I've been avoiding this for a long time ever since my mother mentioned it. My step-father, my pops who has raised me since I was about 9 or 10, was given his military notice for Iraq and he leaves really soon. I keep ignoring it, but I can't help thinking about it. I was watching stuff on youtube and I ran across Pink's song Dear Mr. President and I started to listen to the words and it hit me full force, that my Pops was going over seas to fight in a war! A war over what? I didn't even realize Pops was still active duty until mom told me this. I've been thinking about what could happen, what might happen and it's driving me crazy. I'm like sick right now and I can't talk it out with my mom because I know she's been thinking about it. Reality is hitting my family in the face. I want know if there is a way to get him out of going, my mom has been playing the lotto like no tomorrow because she thinks that if she wins enough he won't have to go... I don't have the heart to tell her that it won't. I know also that it's his job and he takes pride in doing it. My pops is my dad the best I was able to have even when he gets on my nerves, I don't want him to go not even to fight for whatever it is we are fighting for. I feel like a kid again in a sense and I want to hold his shirt to keep him here like I did when I was little. Oh my god...you guys please keep him and all the rest of the soldiers in your prayers. Please.

I'm not a praying man. But I'll keep you and yours in my thoughts.

You know, Tru ... they might not even send him to where there is any fighting going on. There are plenty of places in Iraq where things are peaceful!

I know it's hard to see them go. I have relatives over there as well. But just believe that everything will be okay .. because more than likely, it will be!

I hope you are right, ER. I also hope your fam over there is alright also. I'm doing better than I was a few nights ago, still a little touchy about the subject, but better none the less.

Thank God, words can not express the amount of relief my family feels. His whole batoon was told they weren't going! I am so happy!!! My mom is walking around with a big kool-aid smile. Thank you for keeping my dad in your thoughts and your well- wishes.
