How many black cartoonists do you
know about? I know there are black cartoonists, they just need to be talked about in good terms and expressed in the media more. But anyways, here is what the story is about concerning black comics: Comics page sit in is being done to prove to whites that all black comics are not alike. This is to get rid of their excuse: They will say that they already have a cartoon by a black person. But they are letting them know all black people don't draw the same. These people mostly look at dogs, children, famly, students, and minorities. They see those cartoons as similar in theme even though they are not. That's why they look at them as interchangeable. The "Comics Page Sit-In" is scheduled to take place on Feb. 10 with participants such as Bell, Cory Thomas (Watch Your Head), Lalo Alcaraz (La Cucaracha), Steve Bentley (Herb and Jamaal), Jerry Craft (Mama's Boyz), Charlos Gary (Working It Out The link to this info is here: http://www.blackwebportal.com/wire/DA.cfm?ArticleID=3403 They need to show more black cartoonists in the media.

Although I don't read his comics enough, I do like Keith Knight's stuff.
A blog I frequent posted about him this week. I'd never heard of him before. *********************************** "It is certain, in any case, that ignorance, allied with power, is the most ferocious enemy justice can have." -- James Baldwin |
