I wonder if we are biased on this forum, when it comes to straight or natural hair. Hopefully we're spread out on the issue, but I'm using this poll to see basically where we stand. So please vote.
I'm biased myself, so I wanted to see if most of the men here were as well.

A side question...

I think ultimately black men choosing other than black females is a deciding factor in what we as a race, consider what is beauty. I'm guilty of dating other races, so it's hard explaining that, I love natural hair... love it, love it, love it.

Are we really responsible, as black men,PREFER for perpetuating the American concept of beauty?

Question:
Which do you PREFER?
Straight or Natural?

Or it doesn't matter? <--I ask that you explain this because how could "doesn't matter" be a PREFERENCE?

Choices:
Nature/Natural
Straight/ Unnatural
Doesn't matter (tell why/how)

I voted Doesn't Matter.

I understand some people put a lot of politics in their hair while some simply follow the status quo.

My perspective is simply whether the style is flattering or not. Every women cannot pull off every hair style. Whether it is the size or shape of her head/face or lack of time/money to properly maintain the style, some looks just don't favor some women.

Natural hair or processed hair doesn't equal more or less enlightenment IMO. If I could compose an album of the women I've been involved with, you would see African-American women of all sizes, heights, complexions, levels of education, wealth, intellect, hair styles and faiths. My standard of beauty supercedes the American concept.

(5) over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble."

Not many votes....

But 4 to 1 is still pretty biased.

I guess conscious men want a conscious looking sistah.

I, too, voted it doesn't matter. Hair style matters far less to me than what is under the hair.

I can say that I am partial to short hair on a woman ... But than again, it demands on the woman.

I love all races and nationalities of women, and have been treated royally by them all with the exception of a few bad apples, so can the "you must be hurt" or "you must hate yourself" bullshit. Furthermore, fuck any and all other ignorant ass assumptions and myths of self-loathing and inferiority created by narrow-minded negroes that think boasting, bragging, and posturing a separatist, elitist, racist mentality is being chic and sophisticated - an expression of pride and unity.

Most of you negroes, particularly, you African American negroes, including myself, have caucasian and or caucazoid blood of some percentage flowing through your veins, so if anyone 'hates themselves' its the fools that make the most noise and beat their chests the hardest about being pro-black yet their bloodlines more than likely end up somewhere in Europe rather than Algeria or the Congo.

As Chuck D. said: "I'd rather be hated for what I am than loved for what I'm not." And what I'm "Not" is a hypocritical asshole walking around boasting black pride and unity but lusting after African American women with caucazoid features and attributes. If a non-black woman is what a man wants, then a non-black woman is what he should get instead of faking the funk with a sister that has 'goot hair' and the such for fear of being ridiculed and ostracized by their peers.

I'd rather be "hated" because I follow my heart instead of following the crowd - abiding by the value system of other people. As far as hair s concerned I've dated women that had short nappy afros and long, thick jet black hair that hung all the way down to their asses - but hair texture and length is not a criteria of mine.

A guy going to a black forum, telling black men, not to date black women must be out of his rabbit-ass psycotic mind.

And then have the nerve to throw some little misfit/outcast speech (as if we give a damn!!!) about woe is me, I'm not "proud to be black" so everyone else can go to hell.

Take your immature temper-tantrums somewhere where people actually give two schits about your SELF-LOATHING attitude.

Silly dude.

And this noise coming from a hypocrite that claims to have dated Chinese women (many Asians are some of the most racist against blacks yet white-worshiping fools on the planet) amongst other nationalities of women (were any of these women you conquered AFRICAN AMERICAN???) and crows on a daily basis how rich, diverse and multi-talented black women are yet hasn't found a [black] woman that's "virtuous" enough for him. That's called talking out of both sides of your mouth, junior. Another self-righteous, hyper-masculine, conceited, arrogant, narcissistic, pompous pseudo-god.

at least you have the courage to speak your mind instead of pretending to be a negrophile, placing such strong emphasis on afrocentricity - thinking that braids, twists, locs or even just a big ass head of purposefully kinked up hair makes you more black or more socially conscious than someone else. I'm all for unity and black pride but it's all about the intrensic value rather than the extrensic value. You have "brothers" and "sisters" out there in dashikis that will rob from you and stab you in the back just as quickly, if not quicker, as a typical black man or woman dressed in corporate, European attire.

reciprocating lip service and garbage. How can you be loyal to black women when you go out of your race to date Chinese females (Last time I checked, Asian women aren't BLACK) and who knows, white women (Oooooh dare I say!!), African, and African American(?) women yet none of these women are not "virtuous" enough for him (Who the FUCK does this negro think he is? Agamenemnon, king of the Mycenaens?). You don't have to bother responding, Khaliqua, and this isn't a personal attack on you or anyone else but I find it highly ironic that black women, particularly, women that tread the line of feminism, independence, and equal rights so vehemenantly yet they mindlessly follow Islam - a religion that is one of the most if not the most sexist and mercilessly brutal towards women on the planet.

Romulus, Romulus,

Your talking points are... well just that talking points

You're response is as if your exposing me... 20

Everything you "KNOW" about me came from ME.

You didn't hire a P.I. to tell you I dated an Asian, if you look hard enough you'll find a picture of her on THIS site.

Let you in on another secret...

What you know... THEY know.

so...

STFU
-----------------------------------

Your twisted understanding of consciousness and black cultural appreciation, gets know love here. The garbage you spout about women may get a few amen foot stomps, BUT TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THIS: WE ARE LAUGHING AT YOU. For the most part, you're just a foul mouth babbling idiot, with nothing remotely credible to say. YOU ARE ENTERTAIMENT.

So go ahead...

Entertain me some more. music
