Fellas, we've all met this dude. Smiles in your face, gives you a "pound" when you see each other...then tries to mentally asassinate you at every opportunity. One such "brother" last night touched my last nerve. Starbucks, I'm sitting down with my laptop, my daughter is playing with a doll, everything is hunky dory. Coffee while high priced, is hittin the spot. I'm downloading more IRS paperwork so I can begin my own business. Numbnuts walks in, sees me and strolls over. After the pound, smile blah blah routine, he asks what I'm doing; not seeing a problem arising I tell him. He see his chance to try to tell me that I should be happy where I'm at and that my idea will never work or if it does, it will be TOO MUCH work, so why bother, and a host of other reasons why I should'nt try to reach my full potentional. Now I'm a 32 year old, combat vet, world traveled, educated black man that has been beating the odds stacked against me my entire life. This troglodyte of a black man actually expected me, to take his negativity to heart and just drop everything right there and then. I cussed him out and revealed him for what he was, but if my daughter was'nt with me, I would of shoved my $4.95 coffee with the free crumb cake up his ass!

Anyone can be negative, because its easy to do....some people thrive on being negative, because of their failures. This will not be the last time this happens.........you have to brush it off.
Just turn that into a positive situation...by working hard, making sure that your business is a success. (hhhmmm coffee, with FREE crumb cake......? Bro, I am glad you kicked his ass to the curve (yes, I cursed, Frenchy). There are many negative folks out there...it certainly brings back days in college and the MCATs...the unfortunate truth is that a great deal of them seem to have the same pigment as you and me. But, as you said...you will prevail!!!!!! |

 As soon as I saw the word "ass" I was shocked!  I don't generally share with people projects that mean a lot to me until everything is already settled. Even people who think they are encouraging you, will stress you out, spin your head around, change your focus, make you worry, etc. |

These things happen, man. You know why? Because people are jerks. They are the first ones to criticize when a brotha has gone out there and robbed someone or gotten arrested; they're the first/loudest ones going off at the mouth at how bad they are. Yet, to see a brotha trying ( and by this I mean trying at all and at anything), they STILL can't say anything nice or just keep their mouth shut to begin with.
People like that need to think a happy damn thought and get a bang out of life. |
