I think the two of you should discuss this further on saturday at lunch, after a morning of antiquing and estate sales

Vox, what you are saying? I haven't made any arguments about women dressing up all the time. I don't know why you're making this argument.
I agree, and I have never stated or implied, anywhere in my responses that I believe dressing casually is "low class." That is a stupid, not to mention ridiculous, and it's also stupid that Wiz came up with that conclusion just because he read someplace that I prefer to dress formally for work. Apparently, anything sets off "White standard conformity" radar. So you need to ask him about his reasoning. Personally, I won't be entertaining it anymore, because it's stupid and a discussion with him about it leads to nowhere. I don't know where some people are getting these idea that because you prefer to look decent before you leave the house, which our ole' school grandmothers always advise us to do, that you're an "elitist".

Not a good idea... I'd probably spend the whole time trying to get all up inside her pant suit. ____________________________________________________ |

Antiquing and estate sales???? Where am I supposed to get money to do that? I wish I could afford an estate. On a teacher's salary? - I don't think so. |

errr Rowe will not be wearing a pant suit. that's so Hillary. she'll be wearing an elegant chemise in muted tones with an ethnic print silk scarf loosely tied around her neck and chic little dupioni kitten heel slides. Her kinky twists will be arranged in a chignon with a few loose tendrils to accentuate her eyes and dimples.. talk amongst yourselves.... matchmaking is fun! When we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard or welcomed. But when we are silent, we are still afraid. So it is better to speak Audre Lord |

The important thing, NS, is: Will she be comfortable?

Yes! If she likes what she is wearing, then she'll be comfortable. Every woman has a personal style. I very much like the style Sister Spiritual described, but the discussion is in The Den, and Wiz was asking men what THEY find most attractive on a woman. That's why I talked about leaving the discussion so that the men could talk amongst themselves about naked women, lingerie panties, or whatever they talk about, but then Wiz accused me of conforming to a White standard, which was stupid, just like you said. But again, I won't be entertaining anymore of his discussions about white standards. There is a very important election going on, and there are more important issues to discuss than Wiz's irrational and always comical nonsense. |

Well hey, Kresge's been slackin' off on sending me to the dictionary lately, NS, but you'll make a fine surrogate until he gets it together!

Sensual? Sexy? All I know is when my woman wears that favorite little black slip-looking thing with the fishing line thin straps that just barely covers her booty and slightly hugs her hips turns me the hell on.
Nothing special about it. It's kinda worn and tattered with little bleachy fade spots on the left side. It slightly drapes around her tennis ball-sized breasts. She has three closets full of brand new clothes from around the world but she has this thing about wearing beat up, worn out clothes when she's just bumming around the house. She has this same thing about beat up, rusty, halfway broke down vintage Range Rovers, which is kinda sexy in itself. Gotta love a woman that ain't afraid to double clutch a vintage Range Rover through the roughest terrain South Africa can throw at it yet turn around around and cook you up a batch of some of the fluffiest eggs you'll ever eat, crisp, toasted baggles, and strong cup of coffee. Anyways, once again, nothing special but it's the way the fabric kinks up around her hourglass figure when she lays down in bed after a long shower. All she does is roll around for a good night kiss and next thing you know it hikes halfway up her waist with just a brush of my hand. Damn. I'd rather be hated for what I am than loved for what I'm not. - Chuck D. |

You're so right, negrospiritual. I think this latest ensemble would be more fitting of rowe's character: By the way, Grace Jones is sixty. I'd rather be hated for what I am than loved for what I'm not. - Chuck D. |

ROWE as leather-clad dominatrix, paired with VOX's intelligent, yet obviously sensitive kitten-nurturing self...hmmm....interesting...veddy veddy interesting... I can't help it...i think "STRON-ZHAY" from Boomerang whenever I see Grace Jones. When she told Eddie Murphy's character "Look at this P***y". "How can you say no to this?" On another note, I hope I look that good @ 60! Egungun, Egungun ni t'aiye ati jo! Ancestos, Ancestors come to earth and dance! "I'm sick of the war and the civilization that created it. Let's look to our dreams, and the magical; to the creations of the so-called primitive peoples for new inspirations." - Jaques Vache and Andre Breton "Capitalism is the astounding belief that the most wickedest of men will do the most wickedest of things for the greatest good of everyone." -John Maynard "You know that in our country there were even matriarchal societies where women were the most important element. On the Bijagos islands they had queens. They were not queens because they were the daughters of kings. They had queens succeeding queens. The religious leaders were women too..." -- Amilcar Cabral, Return to the Source, 1973 |

Wait a minute. Grace is SIXTY?!?!? I always admired Grace's beauty, especially her beautiful complexion and gorgeous eyes, but this is unbelievable. She had to have something done. I cannot believe someone can look that great (and fit) at 60. She hasn't aged. Now, if this doesn't prove that Black women are the BEST looking, sexiest women on earth, then I don't know what does. Sister Grace looks fabulous. Thank you Romulus for posting this picture and PROVING what I've been arguing all along in this dicussion, that it DOES NOT MATTER WHAT A WOMAN IS WEARING. If a woman, of any age, exudes confidence, then she can look sexy wearing anything, even a character piece like one Grace is wearing.

That is interesting indeed, because although I've always greatly admired Grace's timeless beauty and eccentric style, my personal style couldn't be farther from the one being depicted in this photo. I think someone might still be upset with me because I rightfully cricitized him for being a sexist and obnoxious jerk in another thread. I think following me all around the board in an attempt to embarress and insult me might his only way of getting even. But I gotta tell you, if he needed to be vindictive in order to salvage whatever I left of his ego, this wasn't the way to do it, because Sister Grace is working it on the catwalk, looking Triple F: Fierce, Fabulous, and Fit at the golden age of 60! Put it down Grace! Remind these youngins, like "Beyonce" and "Ashanti" who was the ORIGINAL diva!

LOL...you all are TOO MUCH!
Men/Women tend to shine when they are left alone to be comfortable and to be themselves... When one isn't worried about "being sexy," another usually can find something "sexy" or "sensual" about them in their natural state, simply because most people have something that is "interesting" about them. "WIAW!" "Don't talk about it: BE ABOUT IT!" "To BE One, ASK ONE!" -OES |
