Peace....
Beautiful wouldn't you agree? However, not the kind of hairstyle you can run your fingers through...Not as Glamorous in the West as say this: Beautiful sister as well...With hair straightened and permed in a way which would probably allow one to run their fingers through.... Do you have a preference brothers??? Kai

I don't have a hard preference... but to tell the truth, most sistas with straightened hair don't get results that are that great (as the one on the magazine cover)... The most beautiful sista that I ever dated had magnificent African braids... She was gorgeous... and OMG when we went out I truly felt I had an African princess on my arm... aesthetically speaking, natural African hairstyles seem most befitting African women... JMHO
But I don't discriminate...

Hey! What about us sistahs with the short hair? I don't mean bald, (not saying that there's anything wrong with that) but the short Halle Berry type hair stytles. I have a fade in the back and tapered on the sides and curled at the top. Y'all left me out. "I find, in being black, a thing of "beauty"; like a joy; a strength; a secret cup of gladness." Hey Kai... you said sistas with natural hair the second picture is a weave advertisement... most sistas with weaves don't let you run your fingers through their hair

OOPS...I didn't know that. I did a search for perms.. Whodathunkit... Weaves can be so deceptive... Thanks MissTical... For the record, my favorite hairstyle for a woman is thick braids...Not cornrows...braids that hang... I have searched for a photo but I can't find the right one yet.. Kai |

I prefer straightened, or permed hair. It
wouldn't, and hasn't, stopped me from dating sistahs otherwise coiffed, (foine is foine) but you did ask for preference. |

My experience is that most Black men have little exposure or experience with Black women's hair in their natural state outside of a woman born with straight or wavy locks....
this coupled with the fact that typically this is what men seek.... A man may not turn down an opportunity to be with a sister whose hair is kinky..... especially if she has other qualities or traits that appeal to him..... but this is not the norm in our community.... and often men who appreciate our beauty in this way have had to consciously retrain their thinking towards such.... and often not out of sheer appreciation or attraction alone... but is usually born out of a sense of duty.... Nor can many men "see" the effect that being removed from and not creating a culture that reflects our natural beauty has on their own choices..... Even rarer is the man that can truly understand the pain that many Black women have felt because of it..... emotional understanding is usually elusive.... Peace, Virtue |

I honestly don't care either way.
I love the natural look. I don't mind the perm however i find myself more turned off by the weird colors or blond look. |

I definitely feelin' you on that. I can't stand the blond look on Black women. Weird colors are semi-tolerable if they're just highlights, but blond is just bass-ackwards.
