I was just wondering if any of you bros met up, dated, hooked up, etc with any women from online. I personally am a lil unsure about this, but i have had friends that say they met some 'decent' women from the web. I often wonder what brought those women to the online dating arena. I mean, it would seem that most 'desireable' women would simply met up with men in their community live and direct. The internet seems to be a gathering place for those 'scale breaking' females or women with other issues...not the 'first choice' to dating. Maybe the net allows them to get to who they are and less based on what they look like.

We talked on the phone and emailed each other for 6 months. I really though she was a cool person until we met. Thirty minutes after meeting her, I was knee deep in some booty. Even though we were from different states, sistah turned out to be a stalker.
Would blow up my phone and leave 15 messages A DAY. I found out the hard way that she was crazy. She said I was the first guy to ever make her pass out during sex, were she had multiple orgasms, one after another and would get light-headed. She painted a whole different picture of herself than what she really was. I "thought" I knew her but I was going on what she told me and not from personal contact. The fact that we had sex off and on for the whole night didn't help things. I can't put all the blame on her, she was wide open, let me do whatever I wanted and I was all up in her. She didn't have a gun to my head and forced me but she had a small waist and a big, pretty booty. I just got in the mood to just tear that booty up. Was poppin' it from the back in doggy style and had that booty jiggling most of the night. She started travelling to my home state after a while. Would camp out in front of my door until I came home. Never again. |

The problem I have,is like darkbuck stated,you don't know who your dealing with over a computor screen. You can learn alot about a person by studying facial expressions and body language or by listen to vocal inflections that your not going to get over a screen.

I recently began offer a service where I contract to conduct background checks/personal profiles for persons wanting to "know" more about the person they are dating/considering for dating/marrying.
And, I've found some interesting results. For example, I've found that about 60% of men lie about something [easily discoverable] in their background even when they profess to want a long-term relationship. About 45% of Women tell some type of lie. But men and women tend to lie about different things. Men lie about status things, e.g., employment, education, income, marital status, etc. Whereas women tend to lie about personal things, e.g., height, weight, number of relationships, etc. But bottomline: if you're thinking about meeting someone on-line, whether for a love connnection, business relationship or just someone to kick it with; CHECK THEM OUT FIRST!!! I recently provided a report for a brother that met a female on-line and was considering traveling across the country to meet her. Well, the background check took 3 weeks [my average turn around is 48 hours] because the information she had provided him didn't check out. After guiding the brother with several questions, I found that the female he was planning to meet was actual a male, that has 2 fraud and a extortion conviction. On further examination, I found that the convictions were the result of his meeting people on-line. So, check 'em out. |

I don't see much of a problem with it. My mantra is, meet them in person as soon as possible. The point of online meeting, as far as I'm concerned, would be to establish contact. If a woman seems hesitant to meet right away, I would take that as a red flag.
And no, no, no long-distance on line hookups. If we don't get the same radio stations, don't bother me. (Unless you get Philadelphia stations. I could probably deal with that.) |

I'm going to chime in here--even though you closed the door on my link in the beginning of this thread.
you're asking the men of the board, but we all have valid viewpoints that can be shared--and there are women out there who are not stalker material, who are not fat and ugly hiding behind a computer screen. speaking as a woman who is online... because i am a work-a-holic, and i don't go to clubs, i've found that meeting people online is a channel that has worked really well for me. i've been online for about 4 yrs...i've met people from all over the world. those that i've met face to face have for the most part been true to what they represented online. (99% of the time) i've traveled to meet people and have had quite a few men travel to meet me. i have definate rules i abide by when coming into contact with new people, and i've found that this medium allows you to get to know someone for "who" they are inside first. whether there is a love connection or not--i've made many good friends. the warning i hear the most is -- "people on the internet lie"..and yes, that is true. it's also true that people in real-life lie as well. the internet allows someone who wants to be devious an easier way to go about it--but there are a lot of people out there who are genuine but guarded and private at first--which is a good way to be. i think as computers and the internet make they're way into more homes--dating and meeting people this way will become more mainstream. my advice which goes for MEN and Women: if you make a connection with someone in your local area...and your instincts feel good about them--get offline as soon as possible. talk on the phone, make an arrangement to meet face to face in a public area. the sooner the better--it's better to see if that initial cyber connection is there in the physical before too much time goes by. red BLACK green |

Darbuck, out of curiosity, how long did you date this girl in person before you decided to have sex with her?
Personally, I know many people that have done the online thing with much success. The problem is when folks don't take the time to get to know a person. That can be a problem no matter how you meet. Just because you chatted with someone online for a few weeks does not mean you know the person. |
