I don't know what it is, but it 'looks like' a rainbow in black face to me.

I was thinking something similar. Or rather, a rainbow photographed or altered by way of a filter of some kind. Truth is undoubtedly the sort of error that cannot be refuted because it was hardened into an unalterable form in the long baking process of history... the red-green-black is the African American flag.
The similarity to a rainbow (or also polar lights) means: The African American flag in the sky:-) Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms - to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way. (V. Frankl) |

I finally broke down and cheated to find the answer -it took only a couple minutes. I can't believe that I missed the photo when it initially came out, but I did. Very cool.

The Red, Black, and Green is the African Liberation Flag created by Marcus Garvey of the UNIA-ACL(United Negro Improvement Association- African Communitees League), it is a Pan African symbol, not one exclusive to Africans in Amerikkka. It pre-dated and inspired many of the coluor schemes of the continental African country's flags once they attained liberation from official Euro-colonialism. Red for the blood, Black for the people, and Green for the land. That land being Africa. BTW interesting picture MBM, it puts 'things' in perspective. Egungun, Egungun ni t'aiye ati jo! Ancestos, Ancestors come to earth and dance! "I'm sick of the war and the civilization that created it. Let's look to our dreams, and the magical; to the creations of the so-called primitive peoples for new inspirations." - Jaques Vache and Andre Breton "Capitalism is the astounding belief that the most wickedest of men will do the most wickedest of things for the greatest good of everyone." -John Maynard "You know that in our country there were even matriarchal societies where women were the most important element. On the Bijagos islands they had queens. They were not queens because they were the daughters of kings. They had queens succeeding queens. The religious leaders were women too..." -- Amilcar Cabral, Return to the Source, 1973 |

No problem, no need to apologize. It's a VERY commen mistake. Africans in Amerikkka make the same error all the time... Egungun, Egungun ni t'aiye ati jo! Ancestos, Ancestors come to earth and dance! Space... the final frontier... to boldly go were no man has gone before... Only to have the probe reprogrammed and sent back with a message: KEEP YOUR DAMN SPACE JUNK IN YOUR OWN UNIVERSE!!
I would have guessed any shot from my first roll of film from my first SLR camera... The tragic irony here is that a lot of African Americans may not fully recognize the implications of this decision for years to come.
