I just received a communique from the Primates for Parity Alliance. Apparently, 1000 monkeys with typewriters managed this:
Dear Homo spaiens,
I know it's been a long time since we've parted and decided to go our own evolutionary ways, but we hoped we'd still be on good terms with you, our cousins. Through the years, things have seemed to be more or less cordial; you'd send anthropologists to spend time with us in our homes, we'd accompany you to yours. We've even endured your children disturbing our afternoon naps by hooting and making faces. Things seemed to be going so well. You will understand, then, why these last few years we have been perplexed by your constant disrespect of us, in particular our brothers Pan paniscus, known fondly as chimps. What heinous crime have they committed, to force you to constantly compared them to this creature known as George W? You compare their intelligence to that of this dubya animal, and mock them further by likening their looks to that of the creature. This degradation must cease immediately. Our people--whether they be chimps, monkeys, baboons, or any of our other brethren in the PFPA--will no longer tolerant such unprovoced attacks on their person. We are sure that you weren't aware of the insulting nature of these comparisons, and will refrain from future offenses. Once again, we hope to be on friendly terms, cousins.
