My system must have some serious compatibility issues or corrupt files. It hangs, I can't load in new software etc., etc. I'm thinking I just need to wipe everything off and load the basics back in fresh.

Any advice on how to do this as painlessly as possible? In the past it's always a MAJOR effort to not only load all the software back, but try to remember passwords, etc. Any way to back-up everything and then just reload it all back?

Help!! brofrown

I'm running Windows XP, Microsoft Office Pro 2003 etc.

You've probably already fixed this problem...But here is links to some info that may be helpful.

Micosoft support center: How to backup files and folders.

How to restore files and folders:

More:

You also might verify that the software is compatiable to Windows XP. If not you will have to go to the vendors site and download the drivers. This was my problem with XP. Also, check for a virus.

MBM That is exactly why you need a Mac. That is is you have more than one option from your machine.

I use a Mac and run three operating systems on it. I have Mac OS 9.2, Mac OS X(Unix) plus Windows 2000 all running from the the same machine. When one OS is playing up I switch. Macs cost more but they give computing pleasure of being Virus free and NEVER break down. Speak to people in the industry with no bias and I am sure they would back up what I am saying to you.
