When I saw this I thought of that Bigfoot footage. Then I thought about pareidolia. I think it's pareidolia.
If there is intelligent life elsewhere I tend to think that those beings wouldn't be made of the same elements as humans; that maybe intelligence is relative; and that maybe the laws of physics are different. *********************************** “It is certain, in any case, that ignorance, allied with power, is the most ferocious enemy justice can have.” -- James Baldwin |

I found him, thanx. I could only locate it by the rock formation he's nothing but a speck when I blow it up. But what about more pictures at the same spot. Did he move? Which mission was that? um |

As far as I know, he hasn't moved. In fact, I suspect that it is not alive, and in fact is only a sculpture placed there by the Venusians to trick us into believing that there is life on Mars.

And he ain't gonna! I was listening to one of my favorite podcasts SETI Institute's "Are We Alone"? The "Skeptical Sunday: Fortune Cooking" episode featured badastronomy.com's Phil Plait talking about the figure on Mars. He said the answer is in the mathematics. He said: "You can actually measure how far away this object is. There are two cameras on board the Rover, and they allow us to actually get--using trigonometry--the distance to nearby objects. And this rock is only about 15 feet from the Rover camera itself. When you do the math...you find out that this rock is only about 2 1/2 inches high.... So if this is Big Foot it's actually a Little Foot." He's also skeptical because it's hard for him to imagine this thing existing in "sub-freezing cold in a 98% carbon dioxide atmosphere." It just doesn't seem plausible. Plait goes on to define pareidolia without ever actually saying the word. (Only later does the show's host mention it.) *********************************** “It is certain, in any case, that ignorance, allied with power, is the most ferocious enemy justice can have.” -- James Baldwin |
