totally agree... positives: middle class non criminal black people going through lifes struggles of the heart; beautiful black men!; cool scenery..; overall positive film negatives: the writer must think we're stupid or children... ; silly; immature..; simplistic; as Vox said: CHEESY ... wait for video... or... erm... you can watch it free if you get the right hook up! Haven't seen it but from the comments it sounds melodramatic. (If so, I'll wait for the video.) 1. Having the excitement and emotional appeal of melodrama: "a melodramatic account of two perilous days spent among the planters" Frank O. Gatell. 2. Exaggeratedly emotional or sentimental; histrionic: "Accuse me, if you will, of melodramatic embroidery" Erskine Childers. 3. Characterized by false pathos and sentiment. *********************************** “It is certain, in any case, that ignorance, allied with power, is the most ferocious enemy justice can have.†-- James Baldwin |

I loved the movie. I'm so sick of seeing us protrayed in a negative light its a breathe of fresh air to see a movie of what's suppose to be middle-class blacks with relationship issues. Maybe I shouldn't use the term "middle-class" because these folks seem to be friends from college.

This an interview that "pissed" Tyler Perry. Tyler is always defending himself and his product.

Okay. So I saw the video. I thought the film was full of melodrama. It was also a bit didactic and very predictable. And I guess I'm not sanctified enough for the religious overtones of the film.
I did like scene stealer Tasha Smith as Angela. Her husband Marcus's body was SLAMMIN'. And the Sheriff Troy was a cutie. Heck, I understand if your name isn't Will Smith, Sam Jackson, or Halle Berry, how hard it is out there for black actors. So, it was nice that Perry employed so many. Still, I'm glad I saved my money on this one. *********************************** “It is certain, in any case, that ignorance, allied with power, is the most ferocious enemy justice can have.†-- James Baldwin |
