Focused Digizine

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 11, 2004 -- In a world where zeroes and ones are becoming the true universal language, it’s clear that digital reigns supreme. Focused Productions has introduced the world’s first Hip-Hop digizine, created to provide edutainment for the Hip-hop nation. With its revolutionary and cutting edge technological capabilities and information, Focused promises viewers a truly innovative experience in Hip-Hop media. The premiere issue, available at www.focusedonline.com, features Nelson George, The Lox, and Dead Prez with cameo appearances by Russell Simmons, Samuel L. Jackson, and Chris Rock.

Focused Digizine employs elements found in traditional print magazines and brings them to life using the latest in digital video technology. Print ads are transformed into commercials, articles replaced by mini-documentaries, and comic strips become “Blokhedz,” an animated series featuring the voice of Mos Def among others. The end product is completely digital, allowing the Digizine to be accessed using a DVD player, a computer, or electronic planner. Each issue (6 a year) is broken down into unique segments which include “Clubbin,” a spotlight on nightclubs across the country, "Hungry," a look at unsigned artist determined to make it, and “N’Focus,” Hip-Hop’s version of CBS’s 60 Minutes, to name a few.

At the helm of Focused Productions, Inc., is Editor-In-Chief M.K. Asante, Jr., and Executive Producer Ben Haaz. “From inception, we wanted to provide progressive, edgy, edutainment for the Hip-Hop generation,” said Haaz, who formerly worked in production for MTV and Chapelle’s Show. Asante, an award-winning author, added that, “above all, we want to raise social consciousness, and do it without sermonizing or putting our audience to sleep.”

In a recent USA Today editorial written by Asante, he stated “Enough disrespect: return rap to its artistic and revolutionary roots.” Through the fusion of digital video, artistry, social awareness, and a genuine love for Hip-Hop, Focused Digizine is at the forefront of this return.
