I found this critique of Robert Kiyosaki as a charlatan on this guy's website Info. on John T. Reed Critique of Rich Dad Poor Dad
I have Kiyosaki's Guide to Investing.... bought his Cashflow for Kids for my children... about five years ago... which they thoroughly enjoyed... I find it to be a great psychological introduction to learning about finance... but have never personally viewed any of his material as nuts and bolts guides towards understanding the financial world... just inspirational and psychological resistance breaking... Has anyone read any books in this series? What was your take? Peace, Khalliqa "The Goddess emerges as the evanescence of the inferior dissipates.... " |

I read it and didn't like it.
He suggest everyone to get out of the rat race (impossible) by aquiring more wealth. Basicly, buy your way out of the rat race... The rat race is a mindset. He encourages the reader to buy into the 'consumer' mindset, purchase material goods, and laugh at those who value working for someone else. ======================= Don't bother spell checking, I can't spell for ish! |

I think the book is really, really elementary in its approach to money, financial literacy and economics.
The ONLY reason he became a best selling author was because he hooked up with a number of Multi-level Marketing organizations and got on their suggested reading list. His "own your own business" theme supported their interests. |

^^ I agree however, seeing how many of us are financially illiterate, including myself in that number and I read financial books and was married to an Accountant courted by Goldman Sachs (*sigh*).... That plus one or two Economics classes behind my belt and a subscription to Economy Today...
uh... I still feel ignorant... and this book dealt with my psychology more than anything else I've read... Its not financial literature in the common sense... its for those of us who need more help with WHY finance is important... and to help us emotional birds wrap our emotions around the issue... It has a place... Salaam.... Peace, Khalliqa "The Goddess emerges as the evanescence of the inferior dissipates.... " |

What works for you may not work for the next person. Glad to hear the book brought you some understanding. ======================= Don't bother spell checking, I can't spell for ish! |

I haven't read it and probably never will. Not because I have heard negatives about it, but because I don't need to.
The greatest condemnation I have of the American school system is the almost intentionality of keeping students in the financial dark. If Rich Dad Poor Dad gets folks to better command their finance, particularly our folks I am for it. |

Agreed... and when it comes to financial literacy.. I believe all avenues should be explored until the lightbulb clicks in the head lol!
Exactly... Peace, Khalliqa "The Goddess emerges as the evanescence of the inferior dissipates.... " |
