NEW YORK -- The board of AOL Time Warner Inc. unanimously named Chief Executive Richard Parsons as chairman, a move that firmly cements his and Time Warner's control of the world's largest media company.
Thursday's appointment, which takes effect at the company's annual meeting on May 16, also solidifies his status as one of the country's top African-American corporate leaders. Parsons replaces Steve Case, the co-founder of America Online who announced abruptly Sunday night he will step down as chairman on that date. That decision came amid growing discontent with the $106 billion merger Case helped orchestrate and finalize just over two years ago. "I am highly gratified that the board shares my determination to maximize AOL Time Warner's tremendous potential," said Parsons, 54. "I will work together with the extraordinary people in this company to focus on increasing value for our customers and our shareholders." ***************** while i was in DC i heard the tom joyner's morning radio show suggest some new tags since "we're running things at AOL" for the famous AOL tag "you've got mail": you've gots mail or maybe, you be having some mail, or how about--you sure do be havin some mail!! |

I know that this is off-topic, possibly in the Africa thread, but has anyone heard of an African businessman or computer scientist who has developed software similar to Windows, but somehow is more user-friendly than Windows? Does anyone know about this or is this another rumor?

This is true Huey, and I think that someone posted it here. The product is called Soft and is used in Ghana.
Here's the link: softghana.com Our people have made the mistake of confusing the methods with the objectives. As long as we agree on objectives, we should never fall out with each other just because we believe in different methods, or tactics, or strategy. We have to keep in mind at all times that we are not fighting for separation. We are fighting for recognition as free humans in this society Malcolm X, 1965 |
