Can someone please share with me what the thread 'Me and My Mexican' is about? Honestly, I'm afraid to weed too deeply in there for fear of being overtaken by the drama. I see that there's LOTS of activity but I'm afraid to peek myself. Eek

What's the deal? 14

LOL!!!!

I have no idea why, but the title of this thread, with the quotation marks and question marks, makes me laugh. As if to say, "I-- I don't get it?" Confused

Sista Souljah was seeing a Mexican guy, and her avatar was a pic of her and him. She started the thread to ask people whether they were bothered by the avatar, and a back-and-forth ensued concerning the degree to which her ongoing insecurities may have contributed to her desire to ask the question.

After awhile, it devolved into a series of arguments and insults between various members concerning things only peripherally related to the original topic.

Edited to add! ohsnap The relationship is over! That's good for a few more pages of posts!

I wonder if a "Member Editorial" thread has ever ended up in the Big House, or otherwise closed. On the plus side, it's a REALLY active thread! 447 responses and growing!

The truth is sistahsouljah wanted to know AA.org's opinion of her going from being a bigot, loving only black men, to dating a Mexican, a non-black man.

A small number of people avoided the true issue at hand and gave their support for her decision to try interracial dating while the majority of the people gave their honest opinion of the hypocrisy in her decision to switch from having no love for men that aren't black to loving non-black men and expressing her disdain for people that do have an issue with her decision to date interracially.

A number of people tried to get her to see the hypocrisy of her choice by getting her to see the situation from our point of view yet she defended her choice as if she wasn't the one that asked for our opinions and actually admitted her choice was hypocritical from the get-go.

From that point on she decided everyone that offered opinions that didn't rub her the right way was assholes even though she solicited our opinions to begin with. As if that weren't crazy enough she goes from professing her love for her 'Mexican' to dumping him all in one thread.

MBM,

I was curious about how the members of this site, especially the ones who have been here awhile, thought about me being with a someone who is not Black. I got alot of honest answers, and some people thought I was a hypocrite. The thing that bothered me the most was that people saw me as being "less Black" than I was before. That pissed me off. I wasn't expecting that type of response.

Wait a minute. Hold up. Back up. You've been a member on this discussion board since 2004 and you were curious about how people would think of you being with someone who isn't black? Where have you been in all this time while various members on this board have spewed such disdain for non-blacks? Even you, yourself, said: "I only loved black men and screw everybody else" and somehow you don't think you're a hypocrite for making such a statement then turn around and express your condemnation for people that don't approve of interracial dating? And yet, somehow, you haven't been aware of all the separatist, elitist, bigotted rhetoric that has been posted on this discussion board in all this time?

Saying you were "curious" about what people on a discussion board like this would think about you dating interracially would be like somebody on a white supremist discussion board being curious about what the members of that board would think if they all of a sudden decided to start dating a black or a jew.

The concept escapes me how you think you can switch from being a bigot to a pluralist, admit to being hypocritical on top of that, and think your transition is complete when you couldn't even refer to your newly ex-boyfriend as a man, a person, a human being instead of a "Mexican". It was quite clear that the guy wasn't black when you posted your avatar but for some reason you had to emphasize that to us in the title of your thread. That would be like a white girl coming on this discussion board and saying "Me and my Negro". and wonder why people are looking at her like she's crazy. But you don't seem to be able to grasp the sociological aspect of this issue.

Yes, I was curious because not everyone is the same and I did get alot of varied opinions. The "separartist, elitist, bigotted rhetoric" (which I'm going to guess, is coming from the many women on here whom you seem to have a big problem with) that you mention has not been something that I have bothered myself with for the most part because I have no real interest in that. I took a long break from this site and before that break, none of this was really even going on.

I knew I was going to get some supporters and I knew some people weren't going to be so happy about it. But yes, it was curiosity that drove me to start the thread. I wasn't secretly seeking "relationship advice" like you seem to think.

Save the innocent school girl routine. Curiousity is the terminology females use to feign stupidity and naivity so as not to be held accountable for the dumb remarks they make that spawn from uninformed brain farts. If you couldn't deal with the response you were going to get from making the kind of remarks you've made on a discussion board like this you shouldn't have started the thread. Ain't nobody stupid up in here and ain't nobody going to go along with your coy routine to save you the embarrassment from making such a childish thread.

I'm sorry you are a woman hater (or so it very strongly seems) but that has nothing to do with me. I say what I mean, and I made the thread with the intent that I've already mentioned. I don't know why you feel it necessary to try and decode the meaning of every word I type, when the reality of things is right before your eyes.

Nah, sistah. That shit ain't going to fly. That shit ain't going to fly at all. Unless you log on, post your comments and log right off without reading anyone else's responses and opinions, which is impossible because you wouldn't know who or why you were responding and for what reason, there ain't no damn way you could be a member on this site as long as you have and not know the agendas of the most outspoken members on this site, namely, people like oshun, kalikwa, rowe, and just about everyone else that plays that black card everytime a topic on non-blacks or interracial dating comes around on this discussion board.

Even if you don't involve yourself with the bigotted rhetoric that has transpired on this dicussion board it sure as hell doesn't mean you aren't aware of it, and you make yourself look even more suspect to feign obliviousness to the matter. Even if you take out all the other variables that have existed on this discussion board you still can't sit there and act like going from saying "I only loved black men and screw everyone else" to turning around and not only date out of your race but also express your disapproval of people comments who express their disdain for interracial relationships. Face it. You're a hypocrite. The good news is nobody cares here or in the real world. But at least here you're not going to walk away from this thinking what you've done is as acceptable as apple pie.

No, I don't know the "agendas" of the people you've named. And I don't care. And the threads that focus on that stuff, I choose not to become involved in. You seem obsessed with it, and with the women you've mentioned. That's your issue. I don't read every single one of their comments and analyze it all like you do. It doesn't matter to me.

You can cut the bullshit. It's simply not working. This isn't about them anyway. This is about you and your childish stubborness in not owning up to the fact that you're a hypocrite and you've backed yourself into a corner by inadvertently labeling people that do not approve of interracial relationships as idiots since you have obviously stated that you're more: "open-minded" now since you've explored interracial dating.

Got no love for politicians
Or that crazy scene in D.C.
It's just a power mad town
But the time is ripe for changes
There's a growing feeling
That taking a chance on a new kind of vision is due

I used to trust the media
To tell me the truth, tell us the truth
But now I've seen the payoffs
Everywhere I look
Who do you trust when everyone's a crook?

Revolution calling you
(There's a) Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Gotta make a change
Gotta push, gotta push it on through

Well you damn sure don't act like you love women. Not on here anyway. And if you talk like this on the internet, I'd hate to see how you treat them on the street.

Hell nah. Everybody has their prefereces. If someone only wants to date one race, that's fine for them. I'm saying, on MY terms and the way MY thinking used to be, I feel I have become more open minded. That doesn't mean everyone else is an idiot because they choose to date one race, I'm referring to MY past experiences.
