THe man has lost his mind. he wants to claim white slavery because he doesn't want his dang on ancestors to pay anything. I understand this.

Charismaallover, I know your perspective is different then that of the author of the article and it is the author I'm 'speaking' to.
If that is the case, then why did white folks who were at one time slaves, obviously aware of the horror and hardship, would stand for other people being enslaved? To have this experience and say nothing, do nothing, then turn around and benefit from others misery of having to go through what they, the whites slaves, have gone through, don't mean jack. For the author is simply using that piece of history to humble black people who refuse to forget their history. White people in this country, indentured or enslave, didn't come close to the hardship of black people who were slaves. If it was all about cheep/free labor, then why stop snatching up white folks then? It would've been easy to get them in europe, before heading to afrika. They knew europe better than afrika, so it would've made since to start and stay with the 'easy pickings', no? I'd also like to know from the author, how many white folks did they lose in bringing enslaved whites to the 'new world'? How were they stowed on ships? >>><<<<>>>><<<<>>>><< "Study the people who took you out of history. Then you'll understand -your history." "For your survival, draw on the intellectual heritage of the whole world, but always start with your own intellectual heitage". --Dr. John Henrik Clarke "Revenge knows few limits when the privileged and powerful are subjected to the kind of terror they regularly mete out to their victims." --Noam Chomsky "Sure there are a few good whites just as much as there are a few bad Blacks. However what we are concerned here with is group attitudes and group politics. The exception does not make a lie or the rule - it merely substantiates it." --Steve Biko |

I was surprised to see a "pro-black" person post this stuff as well. The okey-doke comes in many forms, it seems... The last time I was involved with this issue on a message board, it turned out, through my own due diligence checking out links they posted, that the "white" slaves they spoke of actually were "white" looking people who had traces of black in them. Today, slavery-apologists call these "one-drop" slaves white, in an effort to claim that white people were enslaved too. The idea is that since "white people" were also enslaved, slavery was not against race; reparations are not called for; and black people need to get over it. They tend to shut right the hell on up, though, when faced with the fact that the specific "white" people were enslaved because of their black blood. Slavery, as these examples prove, was so much about race that they even enslaved white people if they had black blood. ____________________________________________________ |
