Oshun comes from a different paradigm. I can be suggested that global capitalism and force economic integration has created more issues globally than what has occurred in that small country in Africa.

There are many countries that are quasi-socialist (although they still bend to certain aspects of the market) that are doing fine.

Pan-Africanism is simply a perspective that has merits when it relates to the powerful elite in the world and the powerless non-whites. The organization for power is not an antiquated idea as its seems you are suggesting.

Pan-Africanism can be powerful if the organizational structure can be put in place.

My personal opinion is that she cedes to much authoritative power to white constructs which to a degree diminish her ultimate aim. But that doesn't mean she is way spacey out there.

I got a couple mo' things I want to get off of my chest.

Maybe I need to explain why my views are so "warped".

Some "warped" background.

My mother lost her project, my Senior year in highschool, and six of us had to move into a single-roomed shelter. So maybe the "lay off the crack" pick struck a nerve, because my mother used drugs. My posting of a crack-head woman was highly inappropriate and actually quite embarrassing (temporary lapse in sanity) My mother and I had our disagreements, so I was sent to a men's shelter... this is where my faith grew... they shipped all of us... black men and women, to a white church... well mixed... kinda. I had sunday-school with white high-school/college aged young adults. Ironically, this was my introduction to "peace like a river". Not the rhetorical kind.

Moving along...

A white teacher, that taught at my high-school in Dallas, had compassion, and brought me into his home, with his wife and two adopted kids. Since I was a project knuckle-head with "potential", he practically held my hand during the application process to U.N.T. I was then introduced to another an elder white woman, who paid for my room/board. With her, Pretty much anything I needed was a telephone call away.

Fast-forward (past my college woes)

Into my relationship with a Chinese girl. There is a stigma about Chinese parents hating black people... there may be some truth to that... but... I flew to Taiwan, slept at her parents house, and didn't meet any rudeness or bigotry. Not only that, her mom kept getting me things to eat, and scolding my ex-girlfriend for her short-comings in hospitality. Her father who spoke no english, made gestures, and did whatever he could to relay to me that I was accepted. Her oldest brother, took us to see some exotic places, and even paid for us to stay in a resort on a beach, short flight included, he was a pleasant dude. Her San-ge, greeted me into his home as well, kept me laughing. They kept a brotha well fed.

Moral of the story is. I've had the benefit of being able to sit down and eat with WHITES and CHINESE in an INTIMATE setting. Most of my upliftment came from non-blacks. Many of you use your PERSONAL experiences to legitimize your disgust in solidarity. I'm not trying to do the same thing here, but I guess I've had the misfortune to think outside of a racist box, and reflect on things that are taboo in the extreme militant's world.
