I don't think I ever suggest white supremacy was a myth. I see the acts of organized power everyday. The relative value of each can only be determined by the context of it, and the result of it. Because all "systems" are human defined and created it is us who maintain them and give them value. That is why I don't have a problem with you criticizing pan-Africanism, but to deny that African based organization for power is naive kind of reflects badly on us as black folks in America. I said that because much of the civil rights was Blacks organizing to acquire power. Theoretically you can say pan-Africanism is an international extension of that thought. I also agree that she does tend to avoid alot of discussion in relation to how her beliefs originated and that relate to 'her'. That could just be a message board thing. Finally, extremism is also determined by us. What was extreme in 1940 is today's man's everyday existence. We are really talking about frames of reference here. Like I said, I don't have any problem with the concept of pan-Africanism, although I think the actually organizational aspect of it would be very difficult to overcome. In addition I think we should organize at home first before we talk about organizing abroad. |

I was about to type up a whole expose' on oshun after seeing that pic of her with that super dark dude in the dashiki. Come on now. And nobody sees the reverse superficial shallowness? DAMN!!! Trying to find the blackest dude on Earth to compensate for your own melanin deficiencies is just as bad as a dark-skinned brother trying to find the most high yella sister with the longest, most processed hair he can find to compensate for his surplus of melanin. Siting of another double-standard: If a dark-skinned brother seeks out a high yella sister with long hair, then he's a low-down, color struck, dirty bastard but when a light-skinned sister seeks out the darkest dude she can find, then she's supposed to be revered as the saviour of the black race, a true african american, a proponent for afrocentricity. Just came from the day spa... for a facial and eyebrow shaping.. the lady who did my facial was from Israel.. she says...
verbatim.. I held the words all the way here... "you're so pretty, but you've got sun spots..." keep in my mind I'm a very dark complected woman so.. I'm like "sun spots????".. she says "yes.. see here? where I did your eyebrows it is light... this is your true color".. she hands me the mirror... I look like one color to me... she says "just a little lightner applied on your face for about a month and you will see your true color .. it fast[sic]" The bottle of "lightner" by the way is priced at $68.00!!!!!!!!! I actually liked her until now... I'm not sure what to say I feel like typing... I get really sick of life like this sometimes...
