I love the book cover - good choice tfro

& I ordered two copies. . .one for myself and one for a gift. Based on the book description, it sounds like something I'll enjoy reading. thanks.

Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms - to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way. (V. Frankl)

1) When do you have time to breathe?

2) Any advice on the publishing process? I'm actually trying to package a number of my essays here into a book with the same feel as Phillip's 'He Talk Like A White Boy'. Do you have any advice about securing a literary agent?

3) Check your LinkedIn messages. I sent you something yesterday.

Great stuff!!! A legitimate renaissance man!! tfro

publishamerica.com

They are in between self-publishers and big time publishers. You don't get much commission if you go through them, but it is a way to get your book out there.

When I was heavily blogging (and most of you missed that stage, 1 year 200,000 hits, shame on you) I was writing 3 and 4 page articles about 2 to 3 times a week. I thought about putting it in book form but I said, nahhhh.... because most of it was topical based upon what was currently happening.

But I would encourage you to do it Michael. You have a good writing style, and solid positions which you defend intelligently.

My book was the result of writing between 1998 to about 2003. I was writing alot of hip hop and battle raps online, and poetry etc. My hard drive almost crashed and I was like OOH! So I pulled out all the dirty cussing stuff, and put it all the rest of them together and sent them to publishamerica. They accepted it and put the book out.

I haven't really pushed it because it was something I did (like when I became a ceritified hypnotherapist, and neurolinguistic programmer) and not something that I ever thought of as a big deal in my life.

Now, on the other hand, my plans are to write two books by the end of next summer:

The Black Man's Guide on how to REALLY Start a Business in the Hood
And
Black Power Equals Black Business

The first one will be more of a fun book with general principles and strategies, the second one will be more like Dr. Claude Anderson's powernomics. Those I am going to try to go through traditional publishers first, if that doesn't work I think I will try to self publish as opposed to going through Publishamerica or something similar.
