Come Here

Away from the Isle of Seshat toward a muted Isle unnamed....

Strokes of hope cut through the river of doubt

frantic wet waves of blue, fold over themselves responding to me affirmatively...

Adrenaline pumping suddenly giving in to fear

Sinking not understanding this is the time to tread..

The distant blue atop the mass of green whispers promises of paradise to me....

Yet it is so far away..

Streaks of water scream as they are hit with an angry fist..... with each kick.... each thrust .....

I gain no ground..

better learn quick....

so I tread....

reserve my energy....

because within my reach,it is there for me, no doubt...

I know this....

It's calling me...

Peace....

Upon the Isle's edge, an ancient Sage awaits...

His blank stare haunting yonder waves..

"Overcome your fear" He thinks...

"Do not tread in doubt and suspicion"...

Come Here

A second birth.. this time the swimming cell is aware of itself.

This time, she knows of her plight, and yet she realizes the promise ahead...

The Sage awaits with all that she needs for Rebirth..

A cauldron yawns, as the Sage turns herbs deep within it's keep..

Sending spells of aroma upon the air..Obedient they ride the wind to find the heiress out at sea..

"Gather strength by this promise, let the lure feed you..

And then young damsel, when you are filled with this vision...

Swim for your Life..."

It awaits...

Peace....

In that moment she became my own
despite the most noble claim
despite her name she belonged to me
My own love eternally

From within a Palace did we twirl in dance
by chance did we whirl as hands collided in mad applause, yet through it all...Only she...And only me...only her beating heart, together with my own.

And as they watched...we embraced in love..and then we dissapeared.

To be seen no more...

And then....

And then...

begins
an unveiling of truth
the door attempted to close
remains present in different robes...

seeking the spark
artificially so
not knowing the fire
still smolders below....

heated consistently
throughout the sojourn
waxing and waning with
every new wind....

its breath though refreshing
can't stop this inferno
a rising climax

And then...

A snakelike slither gliding with the blue around my body, inching toward my soul
wet and salty, peacefully drifting, plummeting faster, oblivious to my fate.

then suddenly awake

The blue stinging my eyes, my conscious drive forces me not to give in,
frantic desperate for a way out of my floating slumber.

no air

Passively snakelike no more, channeling my moves into a torpedo shot upward, craving the rays within my reach.

I want to breathe

Breaking through the invisible sheath that held me back from my lungs hungry desire, thinking that I've arrived

Yet, there though I breathe, I am alone,
cutting through waves with hope that the shore will beckon and give me direction leading me safe to its outstretched arms.
But no land will speak to me.

and I'm thirsty...

This alternate dimension of living held me captive for so long I forgot that it was not where I was intended to live

and I'm thirsty...

my body craves the colliding atoms of H2O to rush down my throat, my eyes betray me as I lick the water hoping for sustenance, gagging on the deception. All around me potentiality but no way to extract its gift.

But ahhhhh the elusive Sun, that gave me vision, direction and drive, could it be the answer to the parch, dry existence that I'm settling for?

the Sun

the Sun

I tear away my clothing continually treading smiling with an internal knowing. The Sun has always been here and if I mine its powers I will suffer no longer...

Placing water upon the plastic parts of my clothes. I hold my arms up, naked, no pretenses, though weary. The Sun silently kisses and blesses the water and I drink.

What led to my destruction, what floats around me refusing to give life, has only been a tool if I but knew...

when I turned to the Sun

I did not die

Peace...

Before me awaits an ecstasy,

and if not then there lies misery,

which one behind this curtain, I only know one thing for certain,

that despite my hearts protest, my spirit will not rest until I know what lies on the inner side of this prize I must undress...

To be continued

THIS WONDERFUL MAN OF MINE

AWAKEN BY THE SMELL OF THE FALLING RAIN
MY HUSBAND BY MY SIDE
IT'S A WONDERFUL THING TO BE LOVED
BY THIS MAN THIS WONDERFUL MAN OF MINE
HE CRADDLES ME IN HIS ARMS
HE LOVES ME WITH HIS EYES
I NEVER NOTICED HOW MUCH WE HAVE SHARED
TOGETHER, I JUST REALIZED
ONE DAY, WHEN HE SAID I LOVE YOU
IT WAS A DIFFERENT WAY HE SAID IT
I CANT HELP BUT LOOK AT HIM
AND NEVER LET HIM FORGET IT
HOW MUCH I LOVE HIM TOO
AND WILL STAY BY HIM FOREVER
AS LONG AS WE'RE TOGETHER
THIS MAN---THIS WONDERFUL MAN OF MINE.

ORIGINAL POEM BY: DONNA

My Hoe

We all need somebody to call on when we get down
somebody who doesnt mind givin a little head
It be times when I dont want to do nothin but frown
And I just be straight wishin I was dead.

It was gettin so bad I couldnt even get no slumber
And I felt that this shit was long overdue.
But I'm so glad you gave me your number
cause you be there when I call for you

They call u ugly cause they dont like to see your face
They call me crazy when they see us together
But they dont understand the power that you embrace
So Ima keep the word on you quiet as a feather.

I tell them everybody needs a hoe
and they should give it a try
But I guess its something they'll never know
but I'll just enjoy this til I die.

Funny thing is, you've been around the way
and teased people here and there.
Maybe they didnt like the way you played
or what the way you looked bare.

I remember I when we first met.
I admit I wasnt too impressed.
But I came to college, and there you sat.
And Lord knew that I felt blessed.

I mean I could be in the bed knocked out
but some how you'll know I aint right.
You'll come over and remove my pouts.
and make sure everything tight.

I'll never forget that time in the shower
when you just showed up and did your thing
I almost dropped on my knee at that very hour
and asked you to wear my ring.

I wish some fool would try to come take you away
I dont care what kind of weapons he talkin
I dont care if its the US Army, with me you'll stay.
cause I aint never gonna be balking.

Even when I'm out with some other chick
the min she does something I dont like
my mind'll get turned to you real quick
and I'll just wish that yal thought alike.

Just know, I have a prize few have seen before
and thats somethign I know others greatly adore.
There is so much more of you still to explore,
but just know, math always be my whore.

Ode to a Friend Gone AWOL

Being without you
is like crashing from that
sweet, perfect jones

So I breathe the air so hard
my nose bleeds
grasping for your fleeting essence
and get down on hands & knees
searching for
traces of you
Among the dirt, glass, and beer caps
on streets and alleys
and show strangers snapshots of you
Hoping they saw you
and knew where you were heading
and I search frantically,
Dreading
That knowing you was
a way too realistic dream
disappearing into the air
Like bath water steam
and seldom used keys
I always seem to misplace
when I need them

Meditations on Greed

If I bring enough
eggs
and butter
sugar, flour, milk
and vanilla.

And take deliberate care to make
each one uniquely delicious,

And mix each one with my hands,

After I bake each one in my oven,

And decorate each one with loving detail.

Then why can't I have my cake
and eat it too.

All my life I never understood
Until it happened to me,
And when I realized,
I cried under a hidden full moon.

One tear for wanting you,

One tear for needing you before you needed me,

One tear for bending until I broke to please you,

One tear for knowing you didn't love me,

One tear for my broken soul,

One tear to let you go.

Then I knew I would do it all over again.

(Not really a poem...But thoughts)

How much should a man settle for before he departs into the great mystery? Should he settle for a life of bland sustenance, while forsaking the spicy fruit which beckons from a plateau surrounded by sharp, unforgiving marl?

Aloft, and dangerous is this singing fruit...Hanging naked she whispers sweetness upon her listeners.

His soul commands that he stretch into the possibility that dances before him. Spritefully, wildly, passionatly, the peach beseeches his obedience.....

But a man blind arises from behind his eyes to remind him that to reach may mean the loss of steadiness. It may mean hunger and shame. "Be safe" is uttered as a mantra oft repeated from behind the veil of reason..."Better safe than sorry" the old voice repeats without pause....

And so he silences her stare, he turns his face to a well trodden trail, flat lands, well lit, and patrolled....

But her song is still sweet as a memory...What if he had reached????

And in that moment a pebble collides against his sandle..and then more pebbles run and join...They comes from yonder hill...Steep and harsh, but not insurmountable...He views upon a rocky shelf, a man like himself...Breathing deep, wide in smile...Pouring with perspiration, and bleeding...However elated...And more pebbles slide down the steep..And this man climbs more...The fruit screams in ecstasy...And he quickens the pace as his climb becomes more determined...She faints..he reaches...And grabs her, and drinks of her sweetness deep...and receives a name forevermore.

How much should a man settle for before he departs into the great mystery???

To those who have tasted the fruit, the choice is obvious...Unfortunately they can offer no sample to those who would not accept the climb.

Perhaps they should silence the blind.....

Come on over to the front of the bus
I'll be riding up there
