With so many stores and products in America

and all over the world, it's great to know where it

comes from. But the question is What are Africa's exports?

Africa is known for successfully exporting.

Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana grow half of the raw

chocolate, and the Comoros grow a 3rd of vanilla.

Over dependence of commodities is unhealthy.

Commodities like oil, gold, platinum, and diamonds
make 75% of exports to the US and this leaves
African economies slow to create urban jobs
and vulerable to prices going back and forth.

THe African Growth and Opportunity act

helps Africa diversify manufacturing.

It got rid of tariffs and quotas on a lot of

African goods with clothing as well.

African exports of clothes are 70%. That's

a million dollars worth of exports a aday.

AMericans bought 2 million pairs of women's

pants and shorts from Africa in 2000.

Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Namibia, NIger,
Rwanda, and Swaziland have excellent export growth.

In industrialized South Africa, cars and equipment

are going with precious metals as the main exports. There

is still more that can be done and that is, African

businesses and farmers take advantage of AGOA

through technical help with electrical commerce and

agreeing upon sanitary and phytosanitary standards.
