Just thinking...

I was on the bus today and these two young thuggish individuals got on. One of them actually sat next to me and put his arm around me, then proceeded to call me baby and ask if I had a man.

I had the ghetto in me. I could feel it creeping out, put I remained calm. Kind of. I politely asked what the fuck was wrong with him, and I moved to a different seat.

He and his friend followed, harrassing me the entire trip. I could smell marijuana and funk on them. They were ashy and smelled as though they hadn't visited soap and water in more than a few days. They were singing, rapping, thisclose to my ear. I didn't say much because I knew anything I said would only add fuel to their fire. They were obviously enjoying watching my discomfort.

I don't know what the hell is wrong with people anymore. It's gross.

What is the problem with being decent, respectful, appropriate, etc. You don't have to walk around being Mr. or Ms. Etiquette but act civilized!!! I was appalled at the situation and everytime I think about it I get more and more disgusted.

Those two...animals... should just be happy we were in a public place and that I was unable to bring out my knife right then and there.

Your heart is in the right place, but I'm wondering where you were going with the example that you gave --- of the father and son dressed in blue (gang dress, perhaps?). Do you mention them because you see them, or the three year old, needing mentoring? I mean, you mention absent fathers --- but give an example of a PRESENT father...so I'm left wondering. Do the mentors that you speak of actually "step in" on what they discern to be a "less than ideal" father and son relationship, or is the mentorship program strictly for the absentee father situations?~

It had to do with the negative influence that dad was having on his son. I used it merely as a lead for the rest of the story. Like I said, which is worse-- having no parent, or having a parent like THAT? I see alot of kids in my area who need mentors, and they may already have a father, but that father is doing all the wrong things. I was going to focus the article strictly on father son relationships and mentoring but I didn't-- it was the editor who added that caption. I used my experience as an example but I didn't mean to exclude female mentoring, because that's needed too.

Girl, did the bus thing happen today? Because if so, than I really think something is in the air. I had to let a few new guys today at the center know that I'm not the one to play with. One was bold and touched me, it took everything in me to remember he was a minor and not to knock the stuff out of him. I did set them straight though. Anyway, but on the real be careful in situations like that because they can very very easily turn to a life or death type thing. I really like your article it brought me in with the father-son-dress thing at the beginning. You have talent as a writer.

Ricardomath, if I ran up on your woman and asked her if she were black, I am certain that she would qualify that shit with all kinds of adjectives and adverbs. So the answer is no. She is not. She look like it, but she is not owning it. Say whatever you want, but unless I got a badge on her, she ain't claiming a strait no.
