Today, December 26, 2007, should be long regarded in
ecstasy. President Bush with one stroke of his pen gave many in the African-American community a fabulous reason to be joyful. He signed the spending bill that gives the U S Government operating funds through September 2008. Why all the hoopla? One class of jubilant victors is the Afro-American farmer. The Black farmers legislation is now Law, after quite a topsy-turvy course in the stormy Congressional session that has ended since before the holiday break. The farmers USDA discrimination suit has made the history books. To the readers, please avail yourselves of the implications of this landmark piece of legislation. And to our Black Farmers: This is your moment after a 10-year struggle to obtain justice.
