Zakar, I made a proposition three times on this site and as of yet have gotten one response that directly speaks to worker cooperatives as a way to better distribute wealth and investment in our communities. One response.

But when I spoke to something I saw as devisive, this happens. When I spoke to something I pretty much saw as an irrelvant mask over a real issue, I got the now infamous Buckwheat thread.

But when I speak of a plan to better distribute wealth, working toward ending poverty on our own. I got one response directly to that. One.

There is a difference between what is diversity and what is divisive.

@Romulus Burnett
You are so full of shyt, there should be a law. I'm still waiting for you to post all those PMS you 'say' I sent you, clown.

You don't back up shyt and then expect others to go along with your BS. . .because ...well, 'why'....exactly?

You're a hater, WB. . .

and you seem to enjoy slamming the black community every chance you get, even our youth. . .

as far as I'm concerned, you can drop dead fred and go straight to h*ll.

figuratively speaking, of course. 4

Wiz, I thought it was a good idea.

Unfortunately, I don't know as much about it as you do.

Maybe you should teach us and nurture that topic. Smile

If anyone had a question, I would be happy to answer it to the best of my ability. If anyone had a comment about it (other than it will never work) I would take it under consideration. I even asked for ideas on what would be a decent business venture. It was my plan to request a grant for it. Because I do not think it would get funded anyother way. And trust me, I would rather not have anything to do with it at all. I am not a business person and have no pretense of ever wanting to be one.

But I think this is something that would be beneficial on so many levels in the black community, and I could only imagine how far it could go and all the good it can do. The wonderful thing about it, is that it requires all types of people to work, but the guiding force must always be to the benefit of the community.

Confused

This is a message board. People disagree on a message board. Using all types of language ... depending on the topic and the posters.

It's not a think tank.

Although that might be one of its uses.

Long time no hear sista. I dont talk about degrees and all that kind of foolishness, I only care about the issues concerning our people.

Your initial point was your disgust for classism... since this thread is about how some feel the board is bourgoise... and you are a part of the board... I was curious if you considered how those new to the board would view you... if you are in regular dialogue and are comfortable here...

Class to a great extent is a particular way you use language. What i said goes directly to the core of the problem we as a community is facing.People always want to sidestep the real issues of class division and self identity to deal with more superficial and trival things.

Do you feel like there are not people on this board from all walks of life? Do you feel like a variety of perspectives are not presented?

Teach you? Here it is a discussion board and yet no one wanted to discuss it. I mean we have to engage on some level. If someone said, "tell me more." I would have told more/

If someone said, "I do not think this is feasable because..." then we could have engaged on that. But what I got was really nothing at all, along the lines of being engaged.

You only seem to ask questions , give no answers. Anyway of course there are a variety of views on this board and people from all walks of life. The point is, classism not only divides us here, but its basically a snapshot of the situation we are facing in this country and world as a whole amoungst ourselves. The very reason we are in the condition we are and and are not progressing is we are divided along so called class line, we have no sustainable communities that can employ and educate our people to the extent that will make a significant difference

In social settings that happens sometimes... especially when you're new and no one knows you... or are unfamiliar with the subject... or simply disinterested... there is no need to interpret this negatively... it just may simply mean there is a lack of interest for whatever reason....

this happens A LOT on message boards... I'm sure the founder can give you an account of the numerous threads started by our more popular members that go silent... the topics may be good.. but for whatever reason no one's biting..

hence why in my original post, I said don't take things so personal....

its not a black bourgeoise thing... sometimes the most challenging topic will have a lot of hits... and sometimes the most inane subjects will touch a nerve with everyone... sometimes important topics will go overlooked... and sometimes really stupid topics will go overlooked....

if one is not getting feedback or attention for their post, they can move on and try again later... or began something else... one can start controversy to get attention...

but when you insulted us you surely got a lot of attention...

message boards are like that...

sometimes an insult will just get blown off...and no one will respond... and sometimes it will turn into a ten page documentary of message board etiquette...

just be patient... and not so reactionary/defensive...

a lot of your gripes are about human nature and your inability to control who people are and how they respond...

Khalliqa

You only seem to ask questions ,

I ask questions to understand... if the questions go unanswered.. I ask again..

You made statements regarding your hope for the board to be like the real world... I was making sure I understood you clearly.. do you believe the board is not made up of people from all walks of life..?

You made a statement after this regarding a variety of perspectives... to understand you clearly I wanted to know if you were saying you think there are not a variety of perspectives presented here...

Peace,
Khalliqa

Romulus,

Why are you here? You apparently dislike the environment here... erm in the words of MBM... you are invited to leave and go to a place you feel more comfortable...

yeah

& a question I had to ask 'myself' at one time, and yet, here I am still posting.

I've grown to have 'much cyber love' for some of the folk here - even those I will STILL cuss out, if need be. Smile

And I'd be lying if I said I haven't learn anything here. . .because I have.

To be honest, I tend to be a snob in my own way, so whatcha gon do? None of us are perfect.

Seriously, why come here critizing the posting style of others, when one can simply choose to find someplace more to their 'liking' & up to their standards.

Yes, personally, I think there are 'cliques' on this board, and I've said so in the past, however, there are 'cliques' in life, period. . .

Get in where you fit in

or. . .

just DO YOU [my own personal favorite].

Otherwise, don't let the door hit ya. . .where the good lawd split ya. Smile

Cause, really. . .

what qualifies a new poster as an 'authority' to critique this message board? All things are not as they may appear.

just do you.

But human nature is something we should be able to rise up to if not above. And for something so important.

I never think of it as insulting you and it is not an insult if were not taken as one (something pooh-poohed in the buckwheat thread). For all the eloquaciosity that goes for dialogue on this site (no that is not a word), it would seem that there was the capability to overcome insults towards more kinetic ends.

Ending poverty using sustainable economic bases, should be something we want to do. I do not want to tell people they have to 'get an education' because they do not, they never did. We need to be able on our own to replace 'mentorship' with 'apprencticeship'.

We should demand that black businesses pay higher wages (and take less profit and offer less abuse) in return for supporting them. It can be done.

Before we go back to Africa, before we get 'kemetic' we need to alleviate poverty in our own communities.
