I agree.. and if there was not a true credibility issue before, there sure is one now.

As I reflect, the whole situation smacks of a level of insecurity and impetuousness that is quite unfortunate.

What did that man do, I wonder?

If this is the same boyfriend she (sistasouljah) was seeking advice on AA.org about a while back on whether to involve him in her counseling sessions with her psychiatrist I would say she probably plucked the dude's last nerve.

I may not know sistasouljah or her now ex-boyfriend but I can certainly relate to being stressed out from dating a chick that was off her rocker yet expected me to carry the psychological burden as well as verbal and emotional abuse she tried to inflict on me in our VERY short-lived relationship.

But seriously, though, this shit is sad. And this has to be one of the saddest threads on this discussion board. Never in my electronic life have I ever seen a chick go from being a bigot to broadcasting her newfound enlightenment of interracial relationships and defending her newfound multicultural philosophy only to lose the dude all in one thread. No wonder this thread has gotten nearly 9000 hits.

It was one thing to try to give this girl advice on how to help her boyfriend cope with her mental instability it's quite another for this drastic change of events to occur all in one thread--unecessarily divulging yet another aspect of her private life for total strangers to analyze and discuss, then get pissed off because she doesn't have the common sense to understand that when she executes attention-seeking stunts like this she puts herself at the mercy of the viewing audience.

IMO ... there is nothing "bigoted" about an African American making the conscious decision to choose a partner who is also African American. Nor is it particularly "bigoted" to for an African American to date exclusively other African Americans.

Saying that one should have "love and acceptance" for all human beings is not the same as saying one should be open to the possibility of an intimate relationship with all human beings.

To maintain otherwise is really quite silly ... because one is then left to conclude that one should never discriminate (in one's intimate relationships) along other factors as well (age? weight? religion? political ideology?)

IMO to maintain otherwise is really something of a twisted perversion of "spiritual" ideals.

It is then a matter to be decided by the individual according to that person's principles and tastes.

Given that this is the case, neither do I view it as particularly hypocritical to not date exclusively African Americans ... Even if it is a principle that one once held.

Only a moron ... who is himself incapable of evolution and growth .... would come to such a conclusion.

But then again .. this is the same person who thinks the likes of a 15 year old ought to dictate the likes of the same person 20 years later ....

PS: No I haven't read the previous 22 pages ... and I'm not going to either ... so I thought I would add my 2 cents anyway and be done.

When one starts qualifying personal preferences with extremist separative sentiment, their choice becomes bigoted.

"Honestly", this isn't about "conscious" decisions. This isn't JUST about personal choice. Some of us choose NOT to ignore the undertones of super-imposed influences on perceptions of race and relationships. "Honestly", this isn't about exclusively dating one race, this is about erroneously monopolizing "consciousness", or "blackness", estranging IR daters, and polarizing blacks against all races. This is about fighting against those who use extreme sentiments to justify their position against galvanization.

And YES, it is hypocritical to patronize extremist, when you were once one yourself.

My brother, in love I say that I absolutely value your contributions on the "other" side of the IR dating issue, but what you just wrote up there made absolutely no sense to me.

Ain't nobody trying to stop fokes from laying down with other fokes who ain't naturally black.

Can you clarify?

You must be kidding me. You have absolutely no clue about how things went down. So stop guessing. We are still living together because right now we have no choice. We are working on things as best as we can. This thread has nothing to do with how healthy my relationship with him is. And I don't appreciate you saying I'm "off my rocker". That is extremely inappropriate. You don't know me or the shit I have to go through every day of my life so I'd also appreciate it if you'd stop acting like you do.

You don't have to like me or the thread, but don't act like you know what you truly don't. Like I said before, you're free to PM me to find out what's really going on. Then you'd find yourself proven wrong.

Let me start with, I take neither side as far as IR dating goes. I take issue with the idea that IR daters are somehow "less" conscious, or love their own kind "less". I take issue with bigotry backed by the idea that it is our conscious duty as blacks, to continue blackness through undiluted propagation. If you have somehow missed that sentiment being expressed here, in this forum, then all I can say is stick around a little longer.

Trust me. If I didn't feel sorry for you for divulging as much of your mental health issues and your personal business in a public domain I'd be tearing much deeper into your thin skin. Appreciate that and keep it moving.

Sucks, being made to look like a criminal.

Hmm.....

What would the reaction here be if that picture were of me with a WHITE man instead of my "Mexican"? 19

I have gotten a tremendous amount of help and love from this site. Many people here know about things from years ago and have come through for me in ways you couldn't even imagine. This isn't just another website to me. There are people here who I consider to be family (you not being one of them). That's why I post things that are personal, because I feel comfortable doing it. That doesn't mean it's cool for you to tear me apart like you do. You have no clue of the past I've had and the love that's been given to me here.
