....but celebrity or not, it would be like a stadium full of people urinating on my casket, or having a horse size bowel movement on my grave to have a.......
........no good Reverend Jesse Jackson, Reverend Al Sharpton, a Poverty Pimping Danny Bakewell, other no good Jackleg individuals, and/or any member of the deceitful Congressional Black Caucus showing up at my wake, funeral, or burial. When you lay down with low down dirty dogs, you always get up covered from head to toe, with disease carrying fleas! .....unless of course the one being buried is just as worthless, then it wouldn't matter because these would be your best homies. .....but Oh well, everybody has the right or option to pick and choose their own heroes. ___________________ http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-040605cochran_lat,0,6006292.story?coll=la-home-headlines Thousands Pay Tribute to Cochran By Carla Hall and John Spano Times Staff Writers Dozens of celebrities and thousands of neighbors flocked to South Los Angeles today for the funeral of Johnnie L. Cochran Jr., as the city's most prominent courtroom lawyer was praised as a man who "did justice" for victims of police abuse and the well-healed alike. "Johnnie fought for his clients, no matter how popular or unpopular the verdict was," said Cochran's most famous client, O.J.Simpson, as he entered the packed, 5,000-seat West Angeles Cathedral in South Los Angeles. "He was the best." Elmer "Geronimo" Pratt, the former Black Panther Party leader was among those who eulogized Cochran, who helped free him after he had served 27 years in prison wrongly convicted of murder. Cochran called Pratt's his proudest victory. "I salute Johnnie, I salute Johnnie with all of the fervor, and all of the for-realness, for all of the brothers and sisters who are still in prison," Pratt said to a standing ovation Hundreds of mourners had lined up early this morning for entry to the service, which spanned 3 hours and 45 minutes. Attending was Simpson, Cochran's most famous victory, singer Michael Jackson, another former Cochran client, and Thomas Mesereau Jr, the lawyer defending Jackson in his ongoing child molestation trial in Santa Barbara County. Captains of commerce, politics and entertainment sat together. Stevie Wonder rose from a seat in the front row to sing to Cochran's memory. Supermarket magnate Ronald Burkle was there. U.S. Rep. Charles Rangel and several other members of Congress attended, as did Abner Louima, a Haitian immigrant assaulted by New York City police whom the lawyer represented. Quoting the Biblical injunction to "do justice," Mayor James K. Hahn praised Cochran's dedication to his profession. "He didn't just love justice, or admire justice," Hahn said. "He did justice. He achieved justice. He fought for justice. He made it happen." The Rev. Jesse Jackson called Cochran "the tallest tree in our legal forest. He was great before he was famous. He was great for standing with the nameless and the faceless, who were without resources." "The Biblical David slew one Goliath, but Johnnie slew Goliaths over and over and over again," Jackson said. Each speaker underscored Cochran's four-decade long legal career, and cited the principles for which he stood. "Johnnie Cochran represented to us justice personified, in the flesh and in the blood," said the Reverend Al Sharpton. The service began with family members, who recalled Cochran's struggle to carry on despite his physical decline, and the faith which they said sustained him.. "Johnnie saw death coming," said William A. Baker, Sr., married to Cochran's sister. "He stood his ground" His daughter, Melodie Cochran described her father as a devout, self-described Christian., "God gave him a divine call to bring forth justice," she said. "He was obedient to the call that God had upon his life.": His son, Jonathan Cochran, said, "For whatever reason God needed a lawyer in heaven and he said, 'call Johnnie Cochran'." Tiffany Cochran Edwards, another daughter, tearfully remembered Cochran as a loving father, "the first man to send me flowers, a Valentine, my confidante." Long before his defense of Simpson, Cochran challenged what many viewed as police misconduct and brutality toward people under arrest, winning large cash awards for those who claimed to have been victimized. The Shreveport, La., native died of an inoperable brain tumor at age 67 at his home in Los Angeles. Cochran wrote in a memoir that he grew up wanting to be a lawyer because he loved to debate, a skill he honed at the dinner table and at Los Angeles High School. A UCLA graduate, he worked as a prosecutor in Los Angeles after earning a degree from Loyola Law School in 1962. His clients weren't always black: He represented Reginald O. Denny, the white trucker beaten by a mob during the 1992 riots after the not-guilty verdicts in the Rodney G. King beating were announced. Instead of arguing police brutality, Cochran contended that the trucker's civil rights had been violated when police failed to do their jobs after being ordered to withdraw from the intersection of Florence Avenue and Normandie Street, a flash point of the riots where Denny was pulled from his big rig and attacked. The victory that Cochran said he savored most was not on behalf of one of the many celebrities he defended, but winning Pratt's freedom. Authorities contended that Pratt, a Vietnam War veteran, robbed and shot a young white couple on a public tennis court in Santa Monica in December, 1968. Cochran has said his biggest disappointment was watching his client, Pratt, convicted of murder in 1972. And he said his greatest triumph came when a judge reversed that conviction 25 years later, after disclosure that an informant in the case was working for prosecutors. "I had learned that prosecutors and law enforcement officials, convinced of their own righteousness, would do anything to make the system yield the 'right result,' " he wrote. Years later, Cochran would suggest that the LAPD did just that to make its case against Simpson -- and others would accuse Cochran of using similar methods to defend his client. It was the Simpson criminal trial that defined Cochran's career. While it made him a household name and offered him access to virtually every high-profile criminal case, it also changed his life "drastically and forever," he wrote in "A Lawyer's Life." "It obscured everything I had done previously." More galling and perplexing to him was the criticism that rained down after the Simpson verdicts, denouncing his legal strategy that put the competence and character of the Los Angeles Police Department on trial. During the trial, Cochran and the rest of the defense team excoriated criminalists for sloppy work that compromised blood evidence and claimed that the police prejudged Simpson. Cochran and his "Dream Team," as the defense attorneys were known, revealed that Det. Mark Fuhrman, who collected key evidence in the case, had a history of making racist remarks. The course of Cochran's four-decade career zigzagged across the legal landscape, starting in the Los Angeles city attorney's office, where he eagerly prosecuted drunk-driving cases, and ending in a private practice that earned him wealth and fame. Resplendently tailored and silky-voiced, clever and genteel, Cochran came to epitomize the formidable litigator, sought after by the famous and wealthy, the obscure and struggling, all believing that they were victims of the system in one way or another. Ever aware of his public image, the attorney delighted in the attention and even played along, showing up in the occasional movie or TV show in a cameo role as himself. ___________________________________ Sincerely, Michael Lofton

You are one troubled azz individual who lacks common decency....your sorry azz will take a person's death and use it as an opportunity to denigrate individuals. That bullschit you talk everyday is one thing....but there still is a time and place where that self-loathing bullschit is not appropriate...this is about Mr. Cochran and respects to him......not how much you hate black people(and yourself) in general......get a f-king grip..............

No, you are not the only such person. That only means that you are, to use your own words, "denigrating yourself by association with" these scumbags and their wrongheaded opinions. Johnny Cochran is a major hero. Too bad, Lofton, that you're just too stupid to see that. ____________________________________________________ |

Can you form your own thoughts and views without citing quotes like a book report? What are your opinions about Mr. Cochran? by Huey If your thoughts and views are not supported by factual information, very few people of merit would listen or respect what you choose to convey. Thus it is very important to cite references, real personal experiences, credentials, eye witnessed accounts, documented case files, input from credible individuals, proof, etc., to support your contentions. I've seen the sleaze of no good poverty pimping Reverend Jesse Jackson while with other family members at Washington High School. An individual, who has lived in Los Angeles for any length of time would have to be a complete idiot to not know that Danny Bakewell is not just as sleazy if not more. ....as far as the many jackleg preachers, in an H.H. Brookins, etc., and their sleazy deacons, I've seen this activity since my childhood, so much so, that although I believe in "God" strongly I refuse to attend any church to where the pastors, the deacons, and/or any worshiping congregation follow sleaze. It makes no difference whether the Black church is large or small. The games to collect tidings by the many no good Black preachers, and their deacons are very easy to see, or hear. The snake oil games to collect tidings have been going on for decades. I don't think I need to elaborate, because anyone who has spent anytime in the "Hood" can attest to this reality. What are your opinions about Mr. Cochran? by Huey I think I've already done that. Attorney Johnny Cochran is not in my list of heroes, because he like the rest is not worthy of such praise. I can produce the information to prove that Attorney Johnny Cochran is not what the media portray, or those who blindly admire him, praise him to be. Much of the information to prove just how far that Black middle class, and/or the so-called university educated from the Black community will go to sell out Black folks who have legitimate claims to redress, in litigation where Black people are plaintiffs, and the defendents are the Los Angeles Unified School District, is of court record, to which anyone can view it, by paying to see the case file. The Los Angeles County archives contains this information under Los Angeles Superior Court case #C895188. Furthermore, I know of others, either personally, or by association, who have contacted Attorney Johnny Cochran, et al., too many of our own so called Black elected officials, etc. These individuals have legitimate grievances for serious redress where innocent Black men or women have been fined, jailed, and/or both in Los Angeles. Like usual, game playing, the information as presented was returned to the sender, or a long train of excuses to do absolutely nothing. There is nothing better than written evidence to prove your claim. I'm not going to praise anyone unworthy of praise, be it Attorney Johnny Cochran, et al., or numerous members of the Congressional Black Caucus. Attorney Johnny Cochran, does not serve the oppressed. He serves celebrities, criminals, or undercuts other Black Attorneys or other attorneys to promote his own personal interests at the expense of the rights of the truly law abiding based on "Equal Justice and Protection under the Law". The fact that Simpson's antics freed O.J. Simpson, and P-Diddy are a very good example of twisted "Equal Justice and Protection Under the Law", to which without me introducing any information about my own plight, it is very easy to see the real Attorney Johnny Cochran, meaning winning at any cost, even if it means setting the truly criminal free! P-Diddy is not among the oppressed. P-Diddy truly had a loaded firearm in his possession, and just like the O.J. trial, Attorney Johnny Cochran has a history of helping to free the criminal element and not freeing Black men or women who are truly innocent. "Reverend James McCloskey of Princeton, N.J., had labored for fifteen years on behalf of those he called "the imprisoned innocent," and his Centurion Ministries had freed fourteen doomed men and one woman. For Pratt, McCloskey played his accustomed role of one-man detective agency, spending a year slogging through the killing fields of the Los Angeles and Oakland ghettos and running up 150,000 miles of travel in pursuit of new leads." ...Reverend McCloskey of Centurion Ministries is the primary individual responsible for the evidence that freed Geronimo Pratt. It is a misnomer to think that Attorney Johnny Cochran freed Geronimo Pratt. Attorney Johhny Cochran did not involve himself until many years later when the media made this big, and/or when Caucasian lawyers, made the case to free Geronimo Pratt. Heck I'm not the only lone Black person who does not think much of Attorney Johnny Cochran. A few years ago, a large group of Black people picketed Attorney Johnny Cochran's legal practice, here in Los Angeles, near Highland and Wilshire Blvd for months, for the sleaze played on them. Believe it or not, Attorney Johnny Cochran is a no good ambulance chasing trial lawyer. Heck, in the 60's Attorney Johnny Cochran betrayed the Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Deadwyler family by handing over very damaging photographs of Los Angeles Police misconduct, to the Los Angeles City attorneys before the pretrial hearing. This enabled Los Angeles City Attorneys, and/or the LAPD to cover up the LAPD's wrongful acts of senselessly murdering Mr. Leonard Deadwyler. To date justice has yet to be served in the Deadwyler case, namely because Attorney Johnny Cochran double crossed the Mr. and Mrs. Deadwyler family heirs! Sincerely, Michael Lofton

So who is on your list of black heroes Lofton? try to name someone who is known for something other than spewing self-loathing garbage....do you have any heroes who have expressed that they are proud to be black....or feel that there are things that blacks do excel in? Give it some thought and see if you can come up with something....because larry elder hates any and everything black......i know people who grew up with him and went to crenshaw high with him...and they say he has always been weird in terms of not loving anything that the majority of black people do......it is sad when one lacks aptitude or creativity and the only way that they can differentitate themselves as a black individual is to suck white folks azzes on the premise of "see, look at me, i'm not like THEM"....boy that is a tragic existence that has to be sad in itself...........

I still haven't figured out which of Johnnie's kids were from his wife and which ones were from the mistress he kept secret for years until the media called him out on it. His two-timing is hardly ever mentioned now.
Another Johnnie unmentionable... Back in the mid-1990s, following the untimely plane crash death of Larry Hillblom (the founding 'H' in DHL Freight Forwarders), it was revealed that old Larry had a son by a then underage island girl who was seeking over $50 million dollars in the courts on the island of Saipan where Hillblom lived. Across the Pacific in Los Angeles, Johnnie Cochran, still basking in the glory of the O.J. farce, smelled easy money and immediately flew out to Saipan to join in the carving up of the billion-dollar Hillblom estate - most of which had been slated to be given to the U. of California for medical research. Hey, but surely Johnnie could play the race card and convince a judge that the "racist" (white) Hillblom had recklessly impregnated an innocent young girl of color who deserved the bucks, after Johnnie got his share. Well, turns out Johnnie had forgotten to account for some other "people of color" in the case - namely, the brown-skinned islander shark-lawyers from Guam and Saipan who were already in a feeding frenzy over the easy money. When a few polite "thanks, Mr. Cochran, but we don't need your services," didn't convince Johnnie to leave, a follow-up number of death threats did. Johnnie got the message and left the island on the next thing with aluminum wings heading back to the West Coast. In the end, paternity was proven. The mother, son, and the shark-lawyers carved up the $50+ million bucks. Johnnie didn't get a penny. Therefore, perhaps it was a good thing that Johnnie's funeral was overshadowed by the Pope's death. Less mention of the unmentionables in the life of this black hero. |

Many of the Black middle class, the Black upper-class, and/or celebrities may praise Johnny Cochran, but it is certain that by and large, the Black "rank and file" have lost respect for no good Attorney Johnny Cochran. Heck, look who showed up to praise him,...namely no Good Poverty Pimping Jesse Jackson, "Poverty Pimping Head of the Brotherhood Crusade and owner of the Los Angeles Sentinel no good sleazy beyond belief" Danny Bakewell, no good Reverend Al Sharpton, soon to go down like the Titanic Michael Jackson, the should be serving time behind bars P-Diddy and O.J., appeasing to get the Black vote for his re-election Mayor James Hahn, appeasing the Black community to ease tension between the Black community and the LAPD Los Angeles Police Chief Bratton, and/or a few blind followers who evidently don't know any better. Wait a second, I make a one-line comment about Cochran's two-timing, then proceed to describe a paternity case on Guam in which Cochran tried to get involved but was snubbed. Michael Lofton follows with remarks about Cochran's ambulance-chasing and an account of the wealthy riff-raffs who showed up at Cochran's funeral. Now you call that "worrying about a dead man's dick business?" WOW...I THINK YOU SHOULD START WORRYING ABOUT A CERTAIN LIVE DICKHEAD'S BUSINESS - YOUR OWN...
