Welcome...
Here's where you'll find reviews of various fitness books & programs. If we don't give you an immediate answer, we'll do a little homework & get back to you in a week or two! ------------------------------ R.I.F. (Reading IS Fundamental)... "There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: (1) Recklessness, which leads to destruction; (2) cowardice, which leads to capture; (3) a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; (4) a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; (5) over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble." -Sun Tzu |

I need you to be more specific.
Do you want to lose bodyfat on your thighs? Do you want firmer (more muscular) legs? Are you looking to develop a certain part of your legs (calves, inner thigh, back of thigh)? ------------------------------ R.I.F. (Reading IS Fundamental)... Hi NS:
In addition to DDouble's questions, how are your knees? Any lower back issues? I like squats, walking lunges and deadlifts to hit the quadriceps and hamstrings. All of them can be done without special equipment, just with stuff around your house. You didn't ask about calves, but they are typically worked on the same day. Some links and pics are below. Unfortunately, getting the definition is 80% diet. Your BF% has to be low enough for the muscles to show through. Whether your muscles just get tighter and stronger or larger AND tighter and stronger is predicated on how you train, eat, and sleep. Contrary to popular myth, simply training with weights will not make you bulk up. The kind of muscle hypertrophy you may be envisioning is the result of very specific training, eating and supplementing performed over many months or perhaps years. Now let me go check out Naomi to see what she's working with. I've always considered her kind of skinny. dumbbell squat http://www.exrx.net/AnimatedEx/Quadriceps/DBSquat.gif I also like this squat variation to hit the inner thighs. plie squat video walking lunge http://www.exrx.net/AnimatedEx/GluteusMaximus/DBWalkingLunge_8.gif dumbbell straight-leg deadlift http://www.exrx.net/AnimatedEx/Hamstrings/DBStraightLegDeadlift.gif

Okay, um, I was supposed to be giving a review.
The site where I copied these exercises from is www.exrx.net. It's an excellent resource that I've been using for years. It has everything: anatomy, terminology, exercise demonstrations, diet and nutrition information . . . you name it. It has something useful for everyone, from beginners to experienced athletes. ------------------------------ DOMS is my friend. |

I've never cared for the Denise Austin or Tamilee Webb videos, but they are out there. http://www.amazon.com/Platinum-Thighs-Steel-Tamilee-Webb/dp/6303181945 I do have this DVD though. While it is primarily a cardio workout, it still puts a nice burn on the thighs. http://www.amazon.com/Method-Afro-Brazilian-Cardio/dp/B00003UC9X ------------------------------ DOMS is my friend. |

While we're on the subject of thighs . . .
What's old is new again. http://www.gofit.net/site/gofit/section/83 I had been curious about kettlebells for a while. When I saw them being carried at Target, I decided to give it a try. The 10# is priced at $30, so I felt the investment was reasonable. I have not been disappointed. The workouts, a combination of strength and cardio, are intense, but not so difficult as to be discouraging. The basic moves are not difficult to learn and don't require a great deal of space. Er, uh, but please don't swing the bells near your breakable items. Thank you. I would definitely recommend kettlebell workouts as a quick, inexpensive way to add activity to your day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_h1QcHTkwdI ------------------------------ DOMS is my friend. |
