Question - What supplements do you take daily? I'm supposed to take iron because I'm anemic, but I find it hard to remember to take them everyday.

Hey Ms. Mahogany:
My core supplements are: -multi-vitamin/mineral (I've been told I'm borderline anemic and I don't eat red meat, so I choose one with iron in it.) -glucosamine/MSM for my joints -echinacea/goldenseal, cycled two weeks on/two weeks off, mainly during cold/flu season -Allibiotic (by NOW Foods), immune system support -Udo's Wholesome Fast Food, fiber and EFAs -Heel Detox Kit, twice per year Since I'm a bodybuilder at heart, even if not currently by appearance, I'm also experimenting with ZMK and Somnidren by Millennium Sports Technologies. Being pre-menopausal, I'm especially interested in anti-aging, GH supporting products. For someone new to supplementation and training, I would suggest the basics of a good multi-vitamin/mineral, EFA caps (flax or fish oil), a pro-biotic for gut health, and plenty of water. I believe it is important to determine what progress a person's body will make with good food, sleep and exercise before getting too caught up with adding too many supplements. ------------------------------ DOMS is my friend. |

Ewww, I don't blame you. I hate the taste of pills with iron in them. Do you eat meat? Maybe ask your doc about food combining. From what I've heard (strictly hearsay), nutrition isn't a significant part of med school curriculum, so some doctors can be quick with the pills instead of looking at a more holistic approach. Supposedly you can increase your absorption rate by combining plant sources with meat sources and adding some vitamin C. Drive & RPM are in my arsenal as well. The combo has helped me lean out, improved my strength and muscle pumps (which helps shuttle nutrients throughout the body).
Various antioxidants and amino acids I'll discuss in detail later. I also use Sesamin - a fat burning lignand (that's a future Science of Fitness topic). ------------------------------ R.I.F. How are Nutrilite and Perfect Purples compared to other supplements?

Hello Huey: I had to look up both of these things since I have never heard of them. I don't know anyone who uses these particular brands. The source of Nutrilite products means I would likely never use them unless someone just gave me some to run a test. When I'm evaluating a product I look at: price, ease of availability, history/quality/accessibility of the company, ingredient lists, and anecdotal reports from folks who would use the products in the same manner I would. I am having a bit of difficulty getting an ingredient from the Nutrilite site. I'll try a different browser later, but it's important for me to see a list to know what is in a supplement before I consider using it. Is there a particular Nutrilite supplement that you would like to compare? I have used green supplements similar to Perfect Purples, just not that particular brand. I do believe these products are valuable for folks who need to increase their nutrient intake but can't eat that much food. As well, our food supply, in my opinion ** just isn't quite the same as in previous generations due to how we've messed with the environment and how we process the crap out of everything. So I don't think there is anything wrong with looking for ways to augment our nutrient intake. Some information about whole food nutrition --> Dr. Del Millers I met this gentleman at the FitExpo in recent years. He walks his talk and give an excellent presentation. **Yes, my opinion. I'm not a doctor, nutritionist, dietitian, or scientist for the FDA or CDC. Just my opinion. ------------------------------ DOMS is my friend. |

Interesting to see the Body Fortress. So many folks seem to be sleeping on this brand simply because it first appeared at Wal-Mart. ------------------------------ DOMS is my friend. |

I used to frown on Wal-mart supplements too until they started upgrading their choices of supplements. When you see that you can get a 5 pound jug of creatine of the same quality at half or less than half of the price of the name brands you can get at GNC you start having second thoughts. Question for the panel.
Currently I take T-Bomb II which does increase my strength levels. Would that be safe to take with drive and rpm, or would that be overkill? ____________________________________________________ Got no love for politicians Or that crazy scene in D.C. I am on phase ii of my summer plan. I dropped about 10lbs in the past two months and put on about 3 lbs of muscle or so, so I am from 217 to 206 and am shooting to get down to about 190 and hold about 8 to 9 percent body fat.
I having been sticking to whey protein, creatine, and a good multivitamin. However I think I am going to try that - Echinacea & Goldenseal ATP was talking about and see if it helps my arthritis in my knees. I may give that drive and RPM a shot too. My big thing is I don't want to dump alot of money into supplements. |

RPM alone is nice. RPM & Drive is beyond nice. No need for the T-Bomb II with it. ------------------------------ R.I.F. (Reading IS Fundamental)... How much are you spending on that Drive andRPM per month.

I try to be frugal and catch supplements on sale.
The best deal on the web right now is: Drive/RPM combo at 1Fast400 This will run you about $63. You can usually find RPM alone for $28-30 and Drive alone for $35-40. Honestly, you could buy 2 bottles of RPM and run it for 2+ months (4 caps on workout days, 2 caps non-workout days). It kicks in right away and works well alone. Drive takes longer to kick in and needs a higher daily dose, so you'd probably spend 2-3 times as much to run a cycle of Drive as long as the RPM solo I mentioned. It's a non-stimulant though, so if you care about caffeine intake, it's the way to go. ------------------------------ R.I.F. (Reading IS Fundamental)... No, RPM is not suppressive. It is supposed to elevate free testosterone levels. The caffeine is muscle sparing and a strength aid. The arginine & grape seed helps blood flow & nutrient transport. There's also a grapefruit extract that prolongs the half life of the other actives.
Personally, I can tell you it lowers blood sugar levels. It also improves libido. The only negative I can think of is slightly creaky joints. Fish oil easily counters that though. Drive acts similiarly through the herbs forskolin and cordyceps. Ramp up the dosage on this over a week. Forskolin will get the bowels moving.

Wow. I'm not back at that level yet. Gimme the summer. I'll be off for three months. I'll try the RPM stacking rutine. Anybody ever tried Hot Stuff? It used to work in the early 90's like wildflower but was pulled from the shelf for a short time and then came back. I didn't get the same results when it returned to the shelf the second time.
