I took a World Religions course awhile back, and I get the basics about Islam. I wanted to know some in depth information about it, from the following...

Mohammad couldn't read nor write, but through the angel Gabriel he was able to memorize and later write down word for word (which isn't impossible, because this can be done with poetry), into the holy book that Muslims know as the Koran today. So did Mohammad write the Qu'ran himself or was there others who did this as well?

Was it written after his death or during his life time?

Does the Qu'ran condone slavery? I was reading that there are certain parts of the Qu'ran where it would even allow men to have women as sex slaves. Need some clarity on that.

From my studies, Islam is more fairer to women compared to any other religion, so why do these Muslim countries treat them like garbage?

I'm being pretty serious about these questions and hopefully some one can answer these intelligently, please and God bless.
