Amazing Grace

"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.

T'was Grace that taught...
my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear...
the hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares...
we have already come.
T'was Grace that brought us safe thus far...
and Grace will lead us home.

The Lord has promised good to me...
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be...
as long as life endures.

When we've been here ten thousand years...
bright shining as the sun.
We've no less days to sing God's praise...
then when we've first begun.

"Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me....
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now, I see.

Fantasia, age 12, singing His Eye Is ON The Sparrow

When we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard or welcomed. But when we are silent, we are still afraid. So it is better to speak

Mary Don't U Weep

I love how Mary is pronounced like May-ray, not "merry". LOL

It was hard to find the lyrics with the refrain of "tell martha not to moan". Several versions, including one by Bruce Springstein don't have that line or the "drowned in the red sea" refrain. I suppose that's a bit of afro improvisation?

Mary Don’t You Weep

Oh, I’m singing Mary
O Mary don't you weep
Tell Martha don’t have to moan
Oh Martha don’t you moan
Oh Mary
O Mary don't you weep
Tell Martha don’t have to moan now
Oh Martha don’t you moan
Pharaoh's army
Pharoah’s army
They done drowned in the sea one day
They drowned in the Red Sea
But Jesus said Mary

O Mary don't you weep
Tell your little sister she don’t have to moan no more
Oh Martha don’t you moan

Now can I get a witness she said Mary
O Mary don't you weep
Tell Martha don’t have to moan
Oh Martha don’t you moan
Oh Mary somebody’s sick today

O Mary don't you weep
Somebody ain’t got no home
Oh Martha don’t you moan

This Pharaoh's army
Pharoah’s army
They done drowned in the sea one day
They drowned in the Red Sea
I believe a man say Mary
O Mary don't you weep
Tell your little sister she don’t have to moan no more
Oh Martha don’t you moan
If I could now
If I could
I would tell you that I surely would now
Surely would
Put my foot on a rock children
Stand on the rock
Stand on the rock where Moses stood one day
Where Moses stood

Because Pharaoh's army
Pharoah’s army
They done drowned in the sea one day
They drowned in the Red Sea

I believe a man said Mary
O Mary don't you weep
I said I believe he said Mary
O Mary don't you weep
Ah, I said Mary
O Mary don't you weep
Trouble in the land will be all over after awhile

O Mary don't you weep
You won’t have to give up right from wrong no more

O Mary don't you weep

O Mary don't you weep

My favorite is "It's Gonna Rain"
Lots of codified information in that song.

Do justly, now. Love mercy, now. Walk humbly, now. You are not obligated to complete the work, but neither are you free to abandon it.
If you miss me at the back of the bus
You can't find me nowhere
Come on over to the front of the bus
I'll be riding up there

I don't have a favorite because in TRUTH, most church songs have either bored me half to death or made me want to puke.

Church music should sound like any other music out here or there will be few takers...

HowEver, I like some of the new church music that's spanned the various music genres lately.

first off Shaya, you might want to get something checked out. Just kidding (sorta/kinda)

But for me there was a song called "Beams of Heaven"
Beams of Heaven

The thing is I remember our choir's rendition and liked it better., but this one is decent.

LOL....why? Because I didn't like most church music?

That's cute....

I liked some gospel, but that was about it...and even that was tainted for me as I watched so many people singing and carrying on...all the while knowing that they had just come from the club a number of hours before.

LOL...
