Males vs. Men

I saw this online somewhere else and wondered what y'all thought of it? I like it.

The differences between a male and a man

Are You A Male Or A Man...

A Man does not carry a grudge
A Male looks for ways to get even

A Man looks to better himself; he invests in his success
A Male complains that he has to stay where he is

A Man gives to his community
A Male takes from his community

A Man is measured by his character
A Male is measured by his sex drive

A Man is a protector of women in general and committed to one woman in particular
A Male views a woman as an object of pleasure, and isn't committed to anything!

A Man word is his bond
A Male has no word, he will tell you what you want to hear

A Real man is a leader
A Male is a follower

A Real man thinks with his big head
A Male thinks with his little head

A Real man uses his intellect and emotions to make decisions
A Male makes emotional decisions

Males Are Born But Men Are Made

Sounds about right - except this man carries grudges

(but only in a very few cases involving the most outrageous violations of my trust and/or respect - and I don't do revenge)

This is the only part I don't agree with. A real man can be a leader or a follower, given the requirements of the situation. I think what separates a man from a male is the ability to tell the difference.

VERY good point

In fact, I think this is crucial... someone who has to lead ALL the time isn't a real man. This person has control/self-esteem issues. Sometimes it's best to allow others to lead... One mark of an effective leader is knowing when to let other people lead...

yes I have to agree with this too. On first reading it did irk me slightly - shudders to remember recently departed alpha male - however, I believe a true leader does so co-operatively anyway, and will/does allow others to lead... effectively leading indirectly... and with the right motives - the benefit to the group. Yes, I also agree with you Black Viking... knowing when to step back and hand over the reins is a wonderful quality.

I'm a little from column Male, and a little from column Man. ...Ok

mostly column Male (Tryin not to think with my little head is hard, but I'm workin' on it - I swear!!

)

A Man serves & protects; is above pettiness; exercises sexual/emotional restraint; willing to put his ego aside & relinquish authority for the sake of the community; has no illusions about himself, thus, always looking to improve himself.

Am I suppose to believe that - in the face of all of these wonderful qualities - he's expected to be MODEST, too?

So I'm the exception...WHEW!! Dodged that bullet! Refraining from "tootin my own horn" would be like being forced to hold my breath after being chained to the sinking Titanic!! (Ok...that's a bit over-the-top, but you get the idea.)

And I'll take those bonus points, thank you!

But I must admit: On the surface, I may seem honest, but it's really a by-product of my desire to get more out of life & myself. In order for me to exceed my limitations, I must acknoweledge them first.
